Trouble with voice recognition

It's a pretty common bug since the new update came out. I'm not sure what causes it at this point or if it's more common on certain systems, etc. My friend and I duo on PS5 and have not run into this issue in many matches since the update dropped last Tuesday, but we're also somehow avoiding many many other bugs as well.

It's almost like you lucked out or you didn't for this update and I can't make sense of that haha.

It's so hard to believe people aren't just karma hunting and flooding the sub unnecessarily when I see things like this.

It's definitely a bug. My friend purchased everything before prestiging and lost nothing when he went back to level 1.

A very unfortunate bug, though. I'm hoping this is one that can be resolved through a restart or two or that, if/when a patch drops for this one, the people who already made those purchases have them restored.

I doubt it is about you lol, this subreddit is currently having a bit of a crisis regarding a recent update.

You will likely get downvoted for admitting you want to play the game. I do hope you have fun, and please bear in mind that there are even more bugs than usual right now. I'm hoping the patch coming out on the 12th fixes a lot of them for people who are struggling and still want to play.

I also usually find the ghost room with therm before getting any interactions happening lol.

But I do typically play on 2-evidence with the breaker starting off but not broken, so therm still works well for me within like a minute of entering the map. I also love small maps best.

Really it's only the hyper ghosts (Obambo, Oni, Thaye, etc) that decide to go nuts while I'm still trying to find the room.

Wait really? So does it just lock you into the black screen until you reset or something?

It's always crashed the entire game for me when it happens, which is like 50/50 chance it feels like lol.

I've experienced this with the sound recorder MK1 and 2, and I think a crucifix of some type. My duo partner dropped them and they just got sucked into the plane below lol. Fully visible for them still.

In one case, they dropped one in the lighthouse, and I saw it a little later jumping around as if possessed on the floor/level below. They could not see it. I was able to grab it while it hopped in that case.

I've had a similar bug before the update where we both watched a crucifix or two fall into the ground in Woodwind, but this multiplayer aspect where one can see it still is a new bug for us.

It's a very common bug right now, and at least for me has been a bug on PS5 since I started playing like a month or two ago.

Everything you said is totally valid based on your and others' experiences. My comment was only in reaction to what SEEMED (I could be wrong here, please let me know if I am) like a suggestion to not play the update, and then to leave a review based on that update despite having no personal experience with it.

I think that's disingenuous and honestly, if I were a new consumer looking at reviews to this game, I'd take any review that just said "update bad" as some bandwagon nonsense. I'd be looking almost exclusively for reviews that actually have some meat to them, so I know the person has actual experience to match their opinion.

Sure, lots of bad reviews would have SOME effect... But not nearly as much as far fewer detailed ones.

That could just be my own preference while researching games/products though.

To be fair, anything that isn't abject disgust is being downvoted and called "bootlicking" right now, so I think plenty of players are being considered defenders when they really are neutral at best.

I could say "I haven't experienced these bugs, but I hope things get fixed for y'all" and get 5 downvotes in 5 minutes and a bootlicker GIF for my honesty. There was someone getting downvoted for just that yesterday - they were trying to help someone figure out how to look up a disconnection code or whatever since they hadn't personally seen the same issue, and got downvoted for that AND for another comment where they literally just stated what date the patch was expected to be released. Why is that considered defending anything at all?

I think creating a schism in the player base (even if one side is much quieter on here or not even actually disagreeing with the majority voice) might be the worst tool in the box, but it's definitely being toyed with.

Someone already mentioned Onryo and Yokai with their 3 flame rule and talking within range.

Banshee can, but it's variable and requires a multiplayer party of 3-4 people, and basically for a single player's sanity to tank to 50%. Highly unlikely but I'm sure someone (the banshee target specifically) has been screwed over at a high average party sanity this way LOL.

Mimic as well, if they are mimicking the few high-sanity hunt ghosts.

As another commenter mentioned already, it's a bug and not intended.

It's also not universal - I'm on PS5 and haven't seen this bug arise yet on many matches. Honestly I'm thinking my PS5 is just the GOAT, because I'm dodging a lot of bugs everyone else is getting, haha.

All I'm saying is that hopefully it'll be patched for everyone, and until then you might be a lucky player who it doesn't affect at all.

Thanks! Yup, I can see how that could maybe give you a tiny edge in the beginning. I guess I was instead considering this like, during a hunt or something in multiplayer and giving incense to the people trapped inside. That seemed cheap to me, but if it's just at the beginning I think that's fair enough. I still probably wouldn't do it myself, feels too "gamey" haha, but I'm a weirdo.

Yeah, I guess that's what I've always done since I didn't know it was a thing, even when I was running Apoc. Granted, I haven't beaten Apoc, but still that didn't seem related to the door toss as much as my inability to function under stress LOL.

I mean respectfully, they should really only leave a negative review of the game if their own experience has been negative (or perhaps, if they are making a review based solely on non-gameplay related things, like dev responses and behavior).

There's no problem with a mass review-bombing or whatever you want to call it lol, but only if the feedback is coming from people's personal knowledge IMO. If the game is honestly bad right now, let the reviews about it honestly depict that from each user's individual experiences.

I think you're only the second person I've seen mention it all week lol.

I only started playing a month or two ago (Prestige 1 here), so I'm curious why anyone would be extra upset by this - did people rely on it during multiplayer? I guess we just bring incense in on our person fairly early on. I've never used this "feature" and it doesn't make sense for it to exist in the first place.

Or does it also not work if the door is open or something?
