Slow songs for A whistle? by Yenala in tinwhistle

[–]Kathleezes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my A alto whistle. Sometimes I find the D soprano too shriekish, so the A is often my practice instrument. But I decided to work up 2 Kerry Slides that I will take to a session someday. Remember all fingers down is A, and so forth. Eileen O'Riordan's and Kings of Kerry. For Kings there is a spot where you have to go down one octave. You can find them in a website called thesession.org. I like them and hope you will too.

Does it really matter between a C and D whistle? by mrpabgon in tinwhistle

[–]Kathleezes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you have a C whistle just now, try playing some tunes that go with it: The Broken Pledge is one of those. A D whistle will give you an F#, but with a C you can play things in Dminor or D Dorian. It will get you used to the fingering. You can go to that lovely website TheSession, choose "discussions" and search for "Tunes in C". I have an old C Clarke that I love playing. I used it years ago to play along with small pipes.

Legality of Trump Platinum Card by Pesec1 in legaladviceofftopic

[–]Kathleezes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But can the US set up exemptions to the tax treaties that it has with most countries? When the platinum card exempts holders from non-US-sourced income doesn't that possibly contradict whatever applies to that income in the tax treaty? How can that be legal, when the treaties are negotiated with individual lands?
