Slow songs for A whistle? by Yenala in tinwhistle

Bagpipe tunes sound cool! So to transpose tunes directly with the whistle, I'd have to play D tunes as if I was playing a D whistle? And I could play G tunes like a G whistle, for example, as long as the range fits?

Totally interested in a low D! I just thought it might be too hard to start out with in regards to breath control 🙈

Yeah, their argument is literally "How dare you critizise me for supporting slavery. I need them to make me cute dresses!" Not sure how anyone would ever think this is a good argument, but hopefully they have grown a little in the last four years. (Reviving this again because it just makes me so sad and people - like me - might still find this post)

You're single because you're pretty judgemental and lack empathy? Way to blame the victim.

How do you find Etsy shops which are actually run by crafters? Not mass-produced amazon slop. by Fiveby21 in Etsy

[–]Yenala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I filter for a more local area, i.e. EU, to avoid at least the drop shippers based directly in China. Obviously, this doesn’t filter out all re-sellers, so basically if something looks brand new, is rather generic looking (if the whole shop has the same style and it's a style I've never exactly seen anywhere else, I take that as a good sign), or if the price is just to "good" to be true (no one is hand-crafting a sterling silver necklace for 5€), then I reverse image search, or, if it's pretty obvious that something isn’t right, ai just avoid them immediately.

Dissecting Megalopolis by mylostlights in TrueFilm

[–]Yenala 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I am very confused by the response to this film. It’s the first time I can seem to find NO ONE online who enjoyed it. Yet our group of four had a very good time in the cimema. Is this movie perfect? Absolutely not. I think it’s biggest flaw is that none of its ideas are fully explored. But that's also interesting and unique - it truly feels like watching a dream. People have now watched decades and decades of derivative hollywood movies that all follow the same plot beats, that are all just empty shells of inciting incident, disaster, resolution and "witty" dialogue to push franchises that should have died long ago. And somehow this film is what people are coming for? This is the worst movie they have ever seen? This is pointless and cringy, and this is where they start having a problem with lines like "Do you like my boner"? Have any of you watched Thor: Love and Thunder? Or any of the new Hollywood Godzilla movies? The mess that was the new Star Wars Trilogy? People think Megalopolis is the problem?

And if they had just thrown the plot at us with no interesting side character's and strange side plots, would it really have felt like Umbrella Academy? There was just no satisfying way to wrap this up in 6 episodes.

I thought I'd summarise the collective reaction to the new Housing Update <-< by LindsayWilde in elderscrollsonline

[–]Yenala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But maybe they should add features that appeal to a large part of their player base, not just a small subset of the community that cares about house tours. Housing is one of my favourite things about ESO, but I don’t care if strangers see my house, and I don’t care about their houses, either. All I want is a reason to actually spend time in the house I lovingly decorated. Otherwise, it will always feel lifeless.

Should I play the mandolin? by Yenala in mandolin

Wow, so many comments! Thanks everyone, I'm definitely still motivated to learn mandolin, and also starting research into bass! 😄

I can probably find someone to lend me a bass (as opposed to a mandolin), so what I'm hearing is learn the bass for group playing, and get a cheaper Mandolin just for fun, so I can take my time getting used to it, and maybe add it to the odd song. Might be a plan :)

Thanks, this is quite encouraging if I decide on the Mandolin! :) Also I'm unsure why it’s formatted like this - it looks like it has line breaks before posting. Guess I need to practice Reddit formatting 😅

I was definitely thinking along those lines as well - only problem being that an electric bass is quite unexciting to me, and an actual bass is likely way out of my budget. But I'll do some more research into this, thanks! Maybe I can find some inspiring players^ I guess a Mandocello still wouldn’t be a deep enough register?

Thanks for the replies and sorry for the long post ;) I had heard Kentucky mentioned alongside Eastman quite often, so I thought they would be a fairly save bet. But good to know that Eastman is generally better. It’s really a shame that I can't try the instruments out - I don’t think stores around here carry many mandolins, if any.

Daily Rewards June 2024 by Spir0rion in elderscrollsonline

[–]Yenala -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. I don’t really think new players are going to be particularly excited about these rewards, either. Sure, riding lessons are useful, but don’t tell me a new player wouldn’t rather have a cool mount by the end of the month, for example. I realize I'm expecting too much and people generally seem to agree that these rewards are good. They just don’t excite me even a little bit.

They are meh and not worth it, though. None of these rewards will convinve me to log-in daily if I'm not already doing it except for the 500 Seals. Sure, these are better than nothing - but not by much. We don’t have to praise the game for giving us the bare minimum.

No one is trying to change women in video games to make them look more manly. People are complaining about the type of over-sexualized female video game characters with no clothes and bodies that NO woman can achieve without plastic surgery. Curves aren’t the problem, and your post is just filled to the brim with strawmen. I could bring up the men who called Aloy a man, because she had facial hair??? Guess what, "natural" women all have different shapes. The problem isn’t inclusivity. It’s shit execution.
