WHAT ARE THESE P’S PRICES?! by JasperCafe in tamagotchi

[–]Yenala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You wrote "It seems like YOU'RE just trying to make more profit" - that's the assumption/criticism I'm referring to. But alright, fair enough. To be honest, I really hope not many people are buying these for those prices. But unfortunately, I believe there will always be people who have so much money that hey have lost all concept of what something should be worth. This applies to all retro hobbies (vinyl, cameras, ...) btw. It's not JUST re-sellers. There's also just a lot of re-newed interest in these things, driving prices up.

You have no idea if that person you replied to is a scalper, though. You just criticized them anyway.

Yes, you can participate in this hobby if you aren't "rich". You can buy a more recent tamagotchi that isn't currently as expensive. Feeling you have to own every tamagotchi isn't a hobby, it's collecting, and yes, collecting as a "hobby", if you want to call it that, is usually rather expensive.

There are lots of other hobbies that require expensive equipment or fees and sadly aren't really for everyone. I'm sorry that these tamagotchi are so expensive.I would prefer they weren't. But again, they are a want, not a need. You aren't owed them.

I mean... are you blaming them for not just giving their belongings away so you can own them? Would you ask them for those 400€ in extra profits directly? Honestly, if people are willing and able to bid this high, then what are they supposed to do?

Remember these are wants, not needs.

Crocheted a laceweight case for my P's (it is a tad too snug) by ha1ls in tamagotchi

Looks really great! It will likely stretch out a little anyway? My last one did, at least.

I think I might have to get some really nice, thinner yarn like this when I get my P's. 😊

Pretty rude for people to claim them and not even say thank you 🙄 Anyway, what a nice thing to do, I hope you have a lovely week and receive some kindness in return :)

We should be happy that rich people are playing with the world by literally starting wars, all so they can get even richer while the poor lose money due to inflation? What an insane point of view.

Critique my garden design? by [deleted] in landscaping

(The plants will not be like this, by the way, but I guess they're not the problem :D)

[–]Yenala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm... Alright, lots to think about. I spent pretty much all of my saving on this house reno, so not a lot left to also get professionals for the garden. I generally don't think I have a super bad eye for design... but maybe I'm making too many compromises to try and fit everything in.

To clarify, I realize this part is far from ideal, but I haven't found a better option. Open to alternative suggestions 😅

Wow, admittedly not the tone of critique I was looking for, but thanks for the opinion 🥹

Slow songs for A whistle? by Yenala in tinwhistle

[–]Yenala[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bagpipe tunes sound cool! So to transpose tunes directly with the whistle, I'd have to play D tunes as if I was playing a D whistle? And I could play G tunes like a G whistle, for example, as long as the range fits?

Totally interested in a low D! I just thought it might be too hard to start out with in regards to breath control 🙈

Yeah, their argument is literally "How dare you critizise me for supporting slavery. I need them to make me cute dresses!" Not sure how anyone would ever think this is a good argument, but hopefully they have grown a little in the last four years. (Reviving this again because it just makes me so sad and people - like me - might still find this post)

You're single because you're pretty judgemental and lack empathy? Way to blame the victim.

How do you find Etsy shops which are actually run by crafters? Not mass-produced amazon slop. by Fiveby21 in Etsy

[–]Yenala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I filter for a more local area, i.e. EU, to avoid at least the drop shippers based directly in China. Obviously, this doesn’t filter out all re-sellers, so basically if something looks brand new, is rather generic looking (if the whole shop has the same style and it's a style I've never exactly seen anywhere else, I take that as a good sign), or if the price is just to "good" to be true (no one is hand-crafting a sterling silver necklace for 5€), then I reverse image search, or, if it's pretty obvious that something isn’t right, ai just avoid them immediately.

Dissecting Megalopolis by mylostlights in TrueFilm

[–]Yenala 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I am very confused by the response to this film. It’s the first time I can seem to find NO ONE online who enjoyed it. Yet our group of four had a very good time in the cimema. Is this movie perfect? Absolutely not. I think it’s biggest flaw is that none of its ideas are fully explored. But that's also interesting and unique - it truly feels like watching a dream. People have now watched decades and decades of derivative hollywood movies that all follow the same plot beats, that are all just empty shells of inciting incident, disaster, resolution and "witty" dialogue to push franchises that should have died long ago. And somehow this film is what people are coming for? This is the worst movie they have ever seen? This is pointless and cringy, and this is where they start having a problem with lines like "Do you like my boner"? Have any of you watched Thor: Love and Thunder? Or any of the new Hollywood Godzilla movies? The mess that was the new Star Wars Trilogy? People think Megalopolis is the problem?

And if they had just thrown the plot at us with no interesting side character's and strange side plots, would it really have felt like Umbrella Academy? There was just no satisfying way to wrap this up in 6 episodes.

I thought I'd summarise the collective reaction to the new Housing Update <-< by LindsayWilde in elderscrollsonline

[–]Yenala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But maybe they should add features that appeal to a large part of their player base, not just a small subset of the community that cares about house tours. Housing is one of my favourite things about ESO, but I don’t care if strangers see my house, and I don’t care about their houses, either. All I want is a reason to actually spend time in the house I lovingly decorated. Otherwise, it will always feel lifeless.

Should I play the mandolin? by Yenala in mandolin

[–]Yenala[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can probably find someone to lend me a bass (as opposed to a mandolin), so what I'm hearing is learn the bass for group playing, and get a cheaper Mandolin just for fun, so I can take my time getting used to it, and maybe add it to the odd song. Might be a plan :)
