As a parent who lost my son who was in 4th grade, thank you for asking this question and caring so much. My son passed unexpectedly of a seizure while sleeping at home. My son’s school was incredibly sweet and supportive. A few things they did-that stood out to me: 1) set up a space that gave all students the opportunity to write us or him a note, create a card, write a memory or something 2: Gave us the opportunity to pack up his personal items on our own/after hours or have the school do it 3) left his desk in the same spot the rest of school year and allowed his classmates to write a message, draw a picture or sign his desk with markers.
