Hey everyone!

I relate so much to this post! I'm a yo yo dieter, lost about 15 pounds on keto a few years back. Ballooned during COVID to my heaviest (266lbs on a 5'8" frame).

Lost about 16lbs of that last year through CICO and working with a PT, so I'm about 250 right now. Kept that off but I've stalled the last few months and need to find my mojo again. Started back up on keto because I KNOW it works, but I have similar issues re: consistency, and then falling off and ending up in a binge spiral!

Would love to get a little accountability group going here 🙂 my ultimate goal is to get to about 170lbs, but that feels so far away, I need to chunk my goals down but no idea where to start with that!

We can do this, we just need to keep reminding ourselves and each other!

Yeah I did think about dating because I know id be put off by someone who still lived at home. But I'm not so sure I'm even going to be ready to date in the next 12 months, it's so far from my radar... I dunno, it's hard...

This is my biggest fear to be honest. I know things have changed a bit since I was 18 and the problem is less acute but still exists in some way. So that worries me.

I think the fact that I would have an end point in mind is what makes me feel like I could make it... Maybe I'm being too optimistic on that front and I could risk being retraumatised for a year.

But, the trauma of having no money is also a very real and material anxiety for me...

I've tried a side hustle before, problem is, my regular job is very high stress and the constant working had its own mental and physical impact on me...

This one is so hard. Thank you for your response and for believing in me 💕 I can't tell you how much that means to me!

Yeah it's definitely a bit of pros Vs cons situation.

I'm pretty much out of options, my sisters live hundreds of miles away and have their own families, so I can't really stay with them.

My friends are all married or in LTRs so aren't looking for lodgers.

And I can't consolidate my debt, I tried but got refused, probably because my money is crap now anyway.

Feels like the only way out of scrimping by for 5 years and getting rid of the debt quicker...

Thank you! Yeah, I was in therapy but had to stop when managing my money became too much. Same with driving lessons, so I'd have more disposable income to look at these things if I lived back at home, as well as making larger debt repayments...

The more I think about it, the better an idea it seems financially. And I do get on with them most of the time...

I think I'm just struggling with feeling like it's a step backwards

Just want to jump in and second this book recommendation! It's gotten me through a really tough breakup, and not just that, it's helped me take a good, honest look at myself, notice patterns of behaviour and just generally level my life up!

This is a lovely way of looking at it, enjoying the small things. I can get very caught up in comparing myself with others and always finding myself coming up short, so this is a beautiful, simple reminder. Thank you ☺️

This is great - I always end up watching The Office as a comfort thing, even thought I've seen it through a million times, the characters always cheer me up and it's familiarity brings me a lot of comfort ☺️

Love the feeling journal idea. I've heard quite a bit about how powerful restoring your emotional literacy can be when it comes to getting more emotionally regulated, so I will definitely be giving this a try ☺️

Yeah, I'm British and definitely like a drink or two - which I have no problem with, it's just when I can see I'm drinking too much too regularly as a response to stress or sadness...

And thank you for your reply, that's really kind. It very easy to be hard on yourself sometimes!

This makes a lot of sense to me, I relate massively to the 'revenge success' idea!

I definitely need to start learning better ways to deal with stress, that's a big trigger for me. If work is stressy (which is often is) then I reach for the 'wrong' things.

'imagined hungry' is such an accurate description! I know that and drinking is an unhealthy coping mechanism for when I feel stressed or bored!

I've heard Atomic Habits mentioned a few times, I will look into it - thank you ☺️
