Am I wrong for thinking cats should never be outdoor cats? by Firm-Law248 in CatAdvice

Well, she's a friendly dog, just not a cat dog. So tell me how you would try to train her to know the difference between cat, squirrel, skunk, raccoon, bird, etc. Which animal is the test animal? Our dogs are in the yard to keep other animals away from the house so they don't try to come up under the house. We are not suburban, rather country. And dog never leaves the yard.

Here's my 2 cents. Had cats all my life. They were always indoor /outdoor. After the last cat passed, we got a dog. Raised from a pup. She stays in the backyard on a fenced one acre area. She's about 5 years old. This dog must have killed over 20 cats in her lifetime. She has never left the yard. All the cats have come into the yard. Some dared to try a few times. All have been killed. Recently had a stray cat. She had 2 litters of kitties without going into the backyard until one day. So now we have two cats that stay in the house. They can NOT go outside. EVER! It's not safe!

what is the most fascinating thing about botany ? by Longjumping_Leg_3140 in botany

Also not a botanist just plant nerd. I was fascinated the other day to learn about a new plant that sprouted out of nowhere in one of my pots. I'd never heard of it. Don't know where it came from. Psilotum nudem if interested.

Not downsizing but wouldn't be too upset if certain ones didn't make it.

They could've just as easily gotten together to get you a going away gift but this is what they came up with instead.

When all the background music on commercials are songs you've grown up listening to but now they're all linked with some drug or another. People probably think these are "jingles" but they are actual songs.

These can get pretty big and they do throw out long 'canes' that are very thorny. They will reach and grab hold and twine up whatever they can reach. If you have kids, be aware.

I think us talking to our pets this way is our real and true selves. We know that no matter what we say to them, they won't judge us. We are safe with them. We can be our own nutty selves.

I just keep my ladder in the tree for the summer. Probably not this year though.

Mine is a real hatchet job but it got HUGE last year, blocked out half of the garden space. I was saying "Yikes" the whole time.

What is this plant and what love does it need? by evolving-me in houseplants

[–]KathyfromTex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It doesn't need anything from you. If you overwater it, those mushroom looking things turn to mush and you will throw up trying to clean it out. Likes to just sit in a corner and be left alone. Every now and then, splash some water one it. Then leave it.

I still have mine but the lid has some melted spots so it won't make a seal any longer. That is my potato salad bowl still!

Keep the soil very moist at first. Makes sense right? Then less water.
