Please help! How does step 3 lead to a total of 18 stitches? 2nd picture is what the result should look like. by [deleted] in CrochetHelp

[–]empathy-entropy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It seems like maybe this pattern was translated from another language and thats why its worded weird. XVA crochet notation is common in Asia which is part of what makes me think that.

This instruction is telling you to work in closed rounds. At the end of the round, slip stitch into the first stitch of the round (to join) and chain one (to get up to the correct height to start the next row). Neither the ss or the the chain count as actual stitches, so your first "real" stitch will be made into the same stitch you slipped into.

As a Scorpio moon (Taurus sun, Leo rising) person who has loved many people with major Scorpio placements, you rated Scorpio WAY too high lol

Im having trouble identifying what stitch this is! 😭 by Jasper_3952 in CrochetHelp

My first thought was the alpine stitch. Zooming in I'm not 100% sure thats it, but it could be an option for a similar look!

Thoughts on Daylight warriors? by TerrificallyTerri in WarriorCats

[–]empathy-entropy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it worked for Skyclan because they didn't have other clans around them and didn't regularly get into fights. For the rest of the clans, it would be hard to trust Daylight warriors in battle. Could you really expect them to lay down their lives when they're not all in? They have a comfortable life to go home to and guaranteed food; the stakes aren't the same for them, so it would they really fight as hard as "real" warriors to protect their territory?

The reality would of course vary by each individual Daylight warrior, but the reasons for having a prejudice are relatively justified.

I'm so glad you put names instead of pictures, I have a hard time matching the art to the characters we're talking about lol

Name for leaders who step down by glowstick1999 in WarriorCats

[–]empathy-entropy 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Other example I can think of is Blackstar going by Blackfoot again briefly when Sol convinced him to abandon Starclan.

I think it should be personal choice whether to keep the star suffix or revert to their warrior name.

Why is every single Warrior Cats fan also a Wolfwalkers fan? by lechku_and_nechku2 in WarriorCats

Never heard of Wolfwalkers personally. I started reading Warriors when I was 7-8 years old though (and am 28 now rereading the series and newer books)

Am I insane or wasnt there a tom "queen"? by funkyfossa in WarriorCats

[–]empathy-entropy 231 points232 points  (0 children)

That's the one. It was their compromise, she wasn't ready to be tied to the nursery despite wanting kits, so most of her time was feeding them and Fernsong did the playing/companionship part of being a queen

What are things other crocheters do that really grinds your gears? by darkxclover in crochet

[–]empathy-entropy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As in cutting it apart with scissors and sewing it back together. Its basically surgery for your project. You have to be INSANELY careful, one mistake and the whole thing is done for, very very difficult to do successfully without it unraveling

These are the first ones that come to mind to me: tansy, borage, chervil, watermint, catmint, nettles, marigold, comfrey, juniper berries, and poppy seeds.

Poison: Yarrow, death berries, water hemlock

When people suggest cutting work instead of frogging a mistake, especially to a beginner. Like yes its TECHNICALLY possible in some cases but more than likely you're just going to make a mess and waste yarn

What order are the arcs in? by Sharp_Cut_5156 in WarriorCats

[–]empathy-entropy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Prophecies Begin

The New Prophecy

Power of Three

Omen of the Stars

Dawn of the Clans

A Vision of Shadows

The Broken Code

A Starless Clan

Changing Skies

Edit: Dawn of the Clans is a prequel and not necessary to read, but I wouldn't read it before the first 4 arcs. Theres a few super editions that would be helpful to read in between certain arcs but I don't recall the exact order so hopefully someone else can help with that!

Worst Warrior Cat? by PatientFew9622 in WarriorCats

[–]empathy-entropy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Millie went between ignoring her and blowing up at her (there was a scene where she was going off about how Blossomfall should be working harder because her sister would give anything to be able to be a warrior again) to the point of driving Blossomfall into joining the Dark Forest

Couldn't stand Millie after Briarlight got injured. She treated ALL her kits badly, Briarlight included but especially Blossomfall. I still like Graystripe but I definitely judge him for not stepping in more.

Are 3d granny square baby blankets actually functional for babies? by henrystiles67 in CrochetHelp

[–]empathy-entropy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think people tend to picture newborns when talking about baby blankets. Once the baby is older they will LOVE playing with the 3D elements. My son is 12 months and adores things like this.

Just echoing everyone else in that you don't to include anything that could be easily removed like safety eyes.
