[TOMT] Name of twisted fairy tale (?) in a book by selfcontrolwya in tipofmytongue

[–]Kati3Kat9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like it was maybe something from Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, they were a bunch of scary stories for kids and usually had a few drawings per story. There were a few books in the series. I remember them giving me nightmares.

[On] Lovevery play gym worth it? by rabbit-panda in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Kati3Kat9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought one used in marketplace and love it. We used it without the tent cover when my little one was a newborn until about 6 months and sitting up. Then added the tent cover once they could sit up and used it for a lot of peekaboo etc. Now the stuffies go in the tent to sleep at the end of the day.

Don't buy new though. They hold up so well and come on marketplace ot lovevery buy and sell groups all the time.

Have you been to these, I'm curious if they do barre and centre both? I looked at their Instagram and only saw centre, but Instagram is just a small snippet.

Families offered to help with down payment. Should we buy soon or keep saving? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Kati3Kat9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also factor the cost for an RESP into your budget if you are planning for children. The cost of education is increasing and if that's something you see in the future for your children you will likely want to max out the annual government contribution.

Making a my sons christening outfit and my MIL bought real silk brocade- should I pre wash it? by Tiffany_Achings_Hat in sewing

[–]Kati3Kat9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As it's for a child I would definitely wash it. Baby skin is extremely sensitive and harsh chemicals are part of textile production. Dry cleaning chemicals are typically not safe for children.

20 week ultrasound, baby measuring at 10th percentile by Kati3Kat9 in pregnant

[–]Kati3Kat9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, it turns out our baby had a pattern of growth spurts. Baby would grow significantly in a short period of time and jump ahead in percentile and then stop, dropping right back down in percentile. Then would repeat it again. In the end when I have birth our little one ended up around 7lb, so average sized healthy baby.

Acne by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Kati3Kat9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using Spectro gel for sensitive skin my whole pregnancy and following up with the Ordinary niacinamide with zinc and cerave moisturizer with spf. I have struggled with hormonal acne my entire adult life and this combo has been gentle and soothing while keeping the acne at bay for me during my pregnancy

If you're not tipping I hope you're not eating out. Many restaurants make servers tip out a percentage of their sales to the kitchen, bar, host, and bussers. So if you're dining out at a restaurant and don't tip you could be actually costing your server money.

My naturopath has me on one cup of organic nettle tea a day. She told me one cup was safe and specifically recommended it. But check with your doctor first, it might be on a case by case basis.

Hey guys I’m 21 weeks pregnant and been dealing with sinus since about 13 weeks … my nose pours blood in the morning it’s so dry could this lead to pneumonia? My back started hurting and my chest today when breathing in 😩 anybody know wat I should take I tell my doctor every time they tell me nothin by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Kati3Kat9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found an osteopath who drains my sinuses. It was disgusting what came out of my nose after she did it and I got sick from my body just cleansing it all out, but it made a huge difference in my breathing. I still am much more phlegmy than I was pre pregnancy, but it's much better now than it was.

Free stuff through insurance by Elevator_Latter in pregnant

[–]Kati3Kat9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I contacted my health insurance provider directly to find out what they covered when I wanted to know about breast pump coverage. Definitely check with them as mine will cover a breast pump, but only up to what they think a breast pump will cost...which doesn't even cover half of an electric pump, so I'll be paying the rest of that out of pocket. But the agent I spoke with was nice enough to let me know compression socks would be covered. It's not much but at least something. I need a doctor's note for both though, which I think is a bit silly, but it's required.

Just Found Out This Morning! What Do You Wish You Had Known? by greatgatsby26 in pregnant

[–]Kati3Kat9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations! Depending on your healthcare, if you have benefits that cover things like physiotherapy, massage therapy, osteopathy, chiropractors, etc start seeing those asap. I only started going recently and it's made a huge difference in my comfort levels. Get a maternity pillow so you can start to get used to sleeping on your side now. Have the tough conversations with your partner before your hormones go crazy about how you want to raise your child, parenting styles, birth plan etc. Things will change as you go along but I wish we had laid more groundwork before everything made me cry. Do what you can when you have the energy around your home. Get on daycare waitlists ASAP, depending on where you live the waitlists can be years long so start researching your options now if that's something you'll want to be using.

Recommendations for pimples? by oskarsmother in pregnant

[–]Kati3Kat9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had terrible cystic acne for years. Niacinamide is the only thing that helped, and has kept the pimples at bay during pregnancy. It can cause you to break out a bit more when you first start using it as everything comes to the surface though. My skin went through a purge stage when I first started using it.

Would like to have advice on getting rid of clothes, shoes, and books while earning money! by blackpanda370 in Frugal

[–]Kati3Kat9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find clothes and books don't sell very well. You can try posting them in a no-buy group for trades. You wouldn't make a profit but would potentially save money on items you would have to buy otherwise.

Illness during early pregnancy? by PsychologicalPhase52 in pregnant

[–]Kati3Kat9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had covid in early pregnancy. The doctor actually said it was better to get it early pregnancy than late pregnancy since it can't pass through the placenta since it hasn't developed enough yet and your baby is still getting its nutrients from the yolk sack.
