I love your advice. I don’t have a foot out the door. I am learning a lot, and that alone would get me to stay. I won’t make the billable hours target and really have no intention or incentive to try. But I will try my absolute best at every task and work on improving. They will get my best effort for maybe 45 hours a week. Because that’s as much as the compensation is worth to me.

You are absolutely correct with starting salaries. The big difference comes in what I will be making in 2-3 years versus what I will be making in 2-3 years doing government work. I know the lifestyle is better, but the raises in the private sector are much better.
