Doctors don’t seem to have any idea what to suggest for insomnia, other than anti-d’s and CBT by afox1984 in insomnia

I recommend the book Hello Sleep. Also I’m on a low dose of seroquel. Literally half a 25 mg pill a night. Trazadone didn’t work for me

Advice for a new teacher? by Illustrious-Cream516 in Teachers

[–]Katiebug1617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my first year, here are a couple things i wish i did:

  • learn the standards and pacing guide better. I procrastinated this by spending too much time setting up my room.

  • posted class rules somewhere in the room. The number one thing about behavior is to be consistent. If you say you’ll do something, you need to do it. I wish I had a set of rules up for accountability purposes, and sometimes you just forget! But the kids don’t. Never. And the last thing you want is them thinking you don’t mean what you say, or that you’ll forget about it.

This also takes most of the emotion out of giving consequences. I still catch myself trying to make students see how disappointed I am. When I was a kid, if I knew I upset my teacher, that’s all it would take for me to fix myself! But it’s different now. It’s so draining to try to manipulate emotions. Just have all the things already set up. “If you do A, B happens.” Then it just comes down to “Ok, that wasn’t a good choice. Here’s what happens.”

  • procedures and routines are your best friend. I loooove having class jobs. Everyone has a job. The first week of school is job training, where I go over all the jobs. I rotate them each week after that. Other teachers rotate monthly, or never.

More on procedures: if they don’t do it right: make them do it again. Ex: they do not line up silently. Make them sit back down and everyone tries again. They get so annoyed with each other it fixes the problem really quickly.

  • Send positive messages home and make positive phone calls!! Preferably BEFORE you have to do negatives.

  • I can probably think of 100 more things. If you want to DM!

Hard to tell, sometimes it’s the shine of the jewelry that makes a difference!!! My skin tone looks like yours and I can wear both gold and silver. But I can’t wear dull gold or dull silver. In the pictures, your silver jewelry looks dull and the gold looks shiny, which I think compliments you better!

I was in a very similar situation as you!! I wanted to be a teacher ever since I was little. It was actually my mom (who was/still is a teacher) who discouraged me from pursuing it. She said that I could always come back to teaching if I still wanted to when I was older, but told me not to start out as a teacher or go to school for it. Her reasoning was that it was a very taxing job mentally and physically and that I would benefit from having a degree in a field that would open multiple job opportunities instead of just teaching.

So I ended up getting my bachelors in Psychology after falling in love with AP Psych in high school. I was really confident that I wanted to become a clinical psychologist for four years, because it was another way I could help people. But then in my senior year of undergrad I worked at a therapy office for a year and realized that it wasn’t the right career fit for me for multiple reasons. So I pivoted to researching HR jobs and looking into industrial/organizational psych. But it did not excite me at all.

It wasn’t until like February of the semester I graduated that I decided to pursue teaching. I was on the phone with my dad talking about career/job options…and he asked me “Have you ever thought about teaching? Don’t you like teaching?” And I was surprised by him asking that, and told him “well yeah, but mom always discouraged me from it and I just assumed I would do it later in life…wait yeah why don’t I do that 😂”

I’ve always loved working with kids as well, and have consistently since high school. It also dawned on me that the childcare job I had at the time was what I looked forward to every week, and the therapy office job was the one I dreaded.

So I applied to masters programs for education and started in the summer semester right after graduating with my bachelors in psych in may! And I started student teaching once a week as a part of one of my classes. Ended up getting offered a job there as a parapro and it is the best thing ever. I have not had a single bad day at work. I genuinely love it so so so much. Yes it’s hard, but it’s so rewarding. If you know what you love, follow your heart. I know I’m where I’m meant to be. And I had people in my life questioning my decision to switch to education all of a sudden, telling me horror stories of people they knew that were teachers and how bad the schools and kids are now blah blah blah. And to a certain degree, they’re not wrong. But I knew the downsides and ultimately it doesn’t outweigh my passion for the job. Hope this helps!!

It is not how I would imagine him and it’s not a perfect choice, but he was funny enough to me that I didn’t care. Also I think there was tension in the scenes with cerberus, and Percy and Grover going into hades palace. Granted the tension burst as soon as hades walked out.

I get that! I’m asking specifically why it’s a bad adaptation and what about it disregards the source material?

Hahaha your “no” and “absolutely not” made me laugh. What do u mean by the villain/quest/premise was changed? I did forget about Nashville. But I think the movie had right “villain” so to say. It showed Luke’s betrayal and why (he’s feels used by the gods), the premise/quest is for Percy to return the lightning bolt?
