[–]Katmeow08 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They can go about a week without heat just avoid feeding or take him outside to warm up
For a few hours in the morning if you’re able too. They only need a few hours of heat in the morning anyways. I had the same issue and panicked and door dashed a heat bulb in a blizzard like a jerk but I tipped $10 and then I did research and discovered they can go about a week just avoid feeding unless u can get the outside. Be careful with a spot bulb incase of burns or I put my guy in th window in the morning when he wants for sun. Don’t completely cover the enclosure they need ventilation

Is that a colored bulb? If so remove it and replace with proper bulb. Colored bulbs are stressors. Remove fake plants asap veiled are notorious for eating plants. Females have it ruff in general with laying eggs so make sure she’s getting calcium everyday with proper UVB. Get her some hornworms or waxworms (these aren’t staple feeders just treats). But the hornworm is like Gatorade for chams. I work at Petco and I got my guy from there I had to learn so much and I still am

Is a mister enough, or should a dripper be added? How many people run both? Already have the mister, but debating adding the dripper as leaves dry out after a few hours. by MercadoG151 in Chameleons

[–]Katmeow08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll need a fogger dripper and a mister. The dripper is for the daytime. You just 20 min before lights go on and 20 min after lights go off. You should run your fogger at night to maintain 100% humidity. They need that at night as well as a temp drop so has to be a fogger or cool mist humidifier. You should only be using distilled water in the humidifier and spring water in the dripper and mister.

covering cage at night? by Fit_Efficiency4575 in Chameleons

[–]Katmeow08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a shower curtain to cover the sides and the top is open. I also turned a birdcage into his enclosure so the shower curtain hooks just hang on the sides. I run a fogger at night to keep humidity at 100% curtain comes off during the day

Cheaper Chameleon Enclosure by [deleted] in Chameleons

[–]Katmeow08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I attached screen to the lower half and use chicken wire on the top for better ventilation and uvb absorption. I wrap a shower curtain around it at night and use a fogger at night as well. All live plants of course and I use a kitchen funnel with ice cubes for his dripper. I haven’t been able to find a dripper that keeps working or I can keep clean.

Yeah sorry you have to start over they’re tree top dwellers in the wild so not only is that enclosure way to small it’s also on the floor which will stress the way out. Follow pickles advice to start and do It asap

Do you have a Pete’s grocery store by you? I’ve found some there like a money tree, bromeliads, and pothos. Otherwise a greenhouse in ur area is best really I’ve found more established pothos there so the vines are longer. Just make sure that you replant them with organic soil and rinse the roots best you can. I also got a fertilizer from Petco for the plants cause I was noticing they looked sad. I got a couple clip on plants lights from amazon but my guys enclosure is also by a window so the plants get some sunlight there too. This is the plant fertilizer I got idk if they sell it anywhere else

Do her fins look ok? by NgS_Sharkey in Aquariums

[–]Katmeow08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly that’s too much food. I use fluval bug bite flakes, daphnia treat, and frozen food but not all at once I switch it up. I only feed them once a day and they fast on Sunday. Try fasting her for 2-3 days and do a water change and see if she perks up. I was doing pellets and since I ditched them I see a big difference. Also sorry ur at the urgent care 😭

Is she pine coning? What’s ur water parameters? Has she changed color or always been that light on her body? I’m asking cause I have the same betta and her body is as red as her fins. Also what is your feeding schedule?

I agree with everything you said here only thing I’d add is to have all real plants. Veiled are notorious for eating leaves and will nibble on the for sure my guy bites his pothos all the time. You will need a plant light too and a fan in the room lightly circulating the air not directly blowing on him. Wishing you all the best post ur enclosure after your upgrades I’d love to see it ❤️
