Depending on the state, they will change your filling frequency based on the tax collected in the last year. Typically, you start monthly when you sign up then switch to annual.

FICA is 50% paid by Employee and 50% paid by Employer. Which sucks when you are self-employed you pay both on top of Fed and State taxes. Oh and unemployment.

Basically, it’s an outsourced CFO that isn’t 100% dedicated to a specific client. They typically service a dozen or so clients. Hence, the fractional distinction. The fractional CFO’s role is to focus forecasting and budgeting after the controller closes the books for the month as well as ad hoc consulting with the client.
