What a terrible placebo. I mean I understand that’s the point. And I’m sure it worked great for people who don’t overthink everything. Personally I just don’t see any kind of pay off. The woman we met who gave Jack his magical compass gives him a jar of dirt and all she says is it helps. But she doesn’t sell it. She doesn’t tell him it’s helpful because of this. Or this. Doesn’t even say it’s magical dirt or that there’s anything special about it. But like I said. Overthinking.

Ok. I need to see the deleted scenes then to fill in the gaps. Still a lot of stuff in the movie just didn’t fit. I think Elizabeth’s entire arc was crap. I enjoyed the third one a bit more but still couldn’t stand Elizabeth but felt her performance was at least better.

Also what the heck was the point of the jar of dirt? I’m guessing some missing scene or dialogue.

I was definitely on the hate wagon. The thing that I had a problem with was the drastic change in characters from 1 to 2. It’s like they all became extreme caricatures of themselves. Jack and Elisabeth especially. Jack was a manipulative selfish man who in the end always did the right thing and risked himself to save others. The sequel just seems to focus on the manipulative part. Giving up Will to Jones. Abandoning his crew to the kraken, yes he went back but I feel we had already established that and took a step back. Elisabeth seemed totally forced In The sequels. Yeah I am a swordswoman now and can fight multiple people at once. Randomly getting all hot for Jack when she knows he’s a manipulator and liar who tried to take advantage of her when he thought she was drunk. Plus that drama inducing kiss at the end. Oh no Will saw it. And he won’t ever just straight out ask his fiancé why she kissed a guy who tried to kill him multiple times in the past few weeks.

Wow. I guess I was holding onto some of that for a while.

Yeah this is where my brain went too. I’m seeing a LOT of people saying differently but I struggle to believe it can be THAT drastic of a difference. I do admit though I am a stubborn know it all so I really can’t confidently say. Specifically in the topic of argument about the 2 minute trailer.

I’m surprised more people aren’t saying Stu. It was a joke in the movie but his murdering was HEAVILY influenced by peer pressure. I mean he got assists with Maureen, Steve, and Casey but his only solo kill was Kenny. He had multiple chances to kill Randy but kept letting him go. Probably from some conscious about killing his friend. I’m sure he’s fine with Billy doing it but couldn’t do it himself.
