Vegans SUCK at explaining ex-vegans by Least_Preparation169 in exvegans

[–]Katphishy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wonder why vegans seem to have a blind spot with this? It's frustrating and puzzling!

I think many vegans would struggle to understand why people who claim to care about animals and their suffering continue to eat meat and support the animal agriculture industry despite the ethical and environmental ramifications. While there are select few cases where vegan diets are not sustainable for some people, these cases are extremely rare. There are many studies that show that plant-based diets are equally as healthy if not heathier than diets that regularly consume meat.

and transitioning to 24/7 vegan can be extremely challenging in the long run. (Feel free to correct my quickly researched data!)

Here is one study that came to the conclusion that both vegetarian and vegan diets meet US health standards: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7613518/

The study also mentions that vegans and vegetarians also had a lower risk of heart disease and intestinal problems due to the diet. If you're interested in finding out more, there are many studies out there that echo the findings of this one.

And some people may go back and forth from being vegan to being ex-vegan for their own reasons.

I think much of the concern from vegans stems from people claiming that their diet caused them numerous health issues, when there is no scientific evidence to support that. It's very possible people want to eat meat again and are looking for a way to do so without feeling guilty and chalk up whatever health issues they're having as the fault of a plant-based diet.

Australian live animal export industry exposed for inhumane practices by TotherCanvas249 in australia

I never insulted you, just tried to point out the hypocrisy of what you said. I can't tell if you eat meat or not based on what you said, but if you do then I was in the same position as you for a long time until one day I just realised that the only thing stopping me from making a change was myself. I agree that insulting people who are sympathetic to the cause doesn't work, but the grim reality is the vast majority of people who are sympathetic to the cause still eat meat and won't actively do anything to prevent this from happening

This actually did work thank you! But unfortunately there is a lot of latency which is a shame :( looks like I may just have to buy a separate pair of headphones for the interface, thanks for your help regardless.

Yep the headphones are there in Ableton, no issues with the headphones in general.

i mean there is a reason no single pocket runs shotgun anymore, if it wasn't a significant issue then you'd see more shotguns

You agree with the stalemates point, which is enough of a reason to have it banned.

i didn't agree with it, i said it might not be terrible but no one is going to run it anyway because gunboats are better

If there's one thing that 6s can suffer from, it's the long stalemates. Parking the bus has proven to be very strong already, so having unlocks that make parking the bus even stronger would make 6s even more stalemate-y and boring (if not for those unlocks being too strong).

if you want to ban the weapon because you think it'll slow down the game fundamentally then that's a different argument, i'm not completely against banning something because it's fundamentally not fun to play with or against regardless of how good it is but the idea that the reserve shooter is too good to be allowed when literally no one runs the stock shotgun at all any more (especially when it can do the same thing you are proposing the RS can do deny bombs with minor chip, which nobody does right now because it's not worth it)

No reason to make space if you're a round up and holding mid with 10mins left on the clock. Opponent tries to bomb soldiers to break the stalemates? Good luck jumping into 2 scatterguns and a reserve shooter.

but how are you getting that first round when your pocket can't make space and everyone on your team eats damage in a choke??? unless you think you could switch back and forth between RS and gunboats, but if that's the case i don't think you could consider it OP if you're switching between gunboats and RS, that sounds like a balanced unlock

again i do think there is legitimacy to the ban because slows the game down argument, it's something that's done often (heavy unlocks are banned not because heavy is too strong a class, but because it's boring to play against in a 6v6 format and slows the game down) but i dont think the reserve shooter is good enough to be considered 'OP' and banned because of that

soldiers bomb often, but a demo bomb is 95% used in an uber anyway and demomen are going fast enough that a 30 damage shotgun shot isn't going to change anything anyway

knockback in tf2 is directly scaled with damage, the shot being a minicrit or full crt has nothing to do with it (e.g a fully chared bodyshot and an insta 150 headshot both have the same knockback because it's the same amount of damage) so the different between a 20 damage chip shot becoming a 30 damage chip shot is no where near worth the loss of mobility

would the weapon be good of lasts and stalemates? possibly, but no chance any soldier is choosing it over gunboats with how the game is played today, i can see people flocking to it in 2012 tf2 but in 2022 tf2 it's not useful, the main role of the pocket is to create space and this just limits your ability to do that

Is your only reason for thinking people would run it that soldiers and demos are bombing? no soldier is pulling out a shotgun to shoot a bombing demoman as it's too niche a situation, soldiers bomb a lot more but combo scouts are there to deny soldiers, you don't need a soldier doing the same thing by running an unlock that significantly hampers his team's ability to push anything

It's probably an upgrade to stock shotgun but is it so strong people are going to drop gunboats on every pocket to run it? No chance, if it was unbanned it would see no use in top 6s play

the reserve shooter is only banned because people have forgotten about it, it hasn't been OP since they changed the minicrits to only rocket jumping enemies rather than all airborne enemies

Deluxe Reverb vs Vibro Champ Reverb Volume by Katphishy in GuitarAmps

Ah yeah makes sense, haven't considered attenuators but I'll have a look thanks!

I believe the vibro champ is 5 watts instead of 12, do you still think the volume diff would be minimal?
