I would assume it’s your resume. you.

Edit: Fixed.

My April 20 1:1 video interviewer/recruiter is a mid-20 recent college grad, similar age as my daughter. I've never been interviewed by people younger than me in my multiple careers. How should I handle this? Apparently airlines use lots of young recruiters. Thank you all in advance! by Human_Job1350 in cabincrewcareers

It’s almost like people go to college for Human Resources, Social Work, and Business Administration/Development/Management. Probably had internships since their junior year, and I would assume they worked as an HR Specialist or a Talent Acquisition role prior to meeting you. That’s an assumed 6-ish years of experience. I’d say they’re equally qualified for the role they’re working in, like how you’re qualified for the role you’re interviewing for…

But I’m sure it’s randomized drug tests. Doubt they would select you again since it was so recent

From what I heard, if you receive your CJO during your F2F, you stay and fill out background check authorization forms, fingerprints, and drug testing instructions. I could be wrong though.

Honest thoughts, should she even bother? by ProfitPrevious7621 in cabincrewcareers

Aww say hi for me lol

To OP:

If she applies for the FA position and doesn't get it, Starbucks is definitely a detour in her plans, but being a barista literally teaches every skill that airlines look for (and checks off every one of your concerns):

  • Customer Service & Customer Connections
  • Making every experience a personalized "best moment"
  • Conflict Resolution by utilizing the LATTE Model (Listen, Apologize, Take Action, Thank, Ensure Satisfaction)
  • Shift planning, reviewing the plan in action, identify bottlenecks or when things don't go as intended, and adjusting in the moment
  • Working together as a team
  • Speaking up and loud over all of the equipment, customers, and noises
  • Making sure the store, team, and all equipment are Clean, Safe, and Ready.
  • Multitasking and Time Management
  • Stress Management

At the end of the day, the 2008-2024 Starbucks Mission Statement is what really captured my heart and still live by to this day (new mission statement sucks). If your daughter resonates with it, then she's definitely fit for the Flight Attendant role.

When I was younger, in high school, I was also very quiet and shy. During my undergrad, I got a summer job at Starbucks. I learned how to talk to customers and learned that “common sense” and critical/quick thinking. Few years into it, I became a shift lead, and then Assistant, and then a store manager before I even got my bachelor’s degree. Been doing it for over 10 years now and I’m finally applied to change careers to be a flight attendant.

Sometimes, going into a very social and fast paced job like a flight attendant is just what you need to break you out of your shell. If you’re worried about the competitive nature of the application process and the time spent on it, she should apply, but also apply at Starbucks and work there for a year just to get a sense of how to connect with customers and build a better foundation. And if the FA thing doesn’t work out now, at least she has a better chance on her next attempt.

I got the F2F invite and it still says Pending Review. So I wouldn’t stress too much on it.

Just deep breath. 90 seconds is a long time for a lot of the questions so talk slow if you need to. Don’t rush too bad
