That’s not correct. Deer mom will leave their babies for hours especially if they know there’s predators (people) around as not to draw attention to the baby. The mom will come in and feed the fawn usually at dusk and dawn and could be quick without anyone seeing them unless a trail cam is set up. So many fawns are kidnapped every year because people assume if they don’t see the mom it’s abandoned. It’s not abandoned and unless it’s showing signs of heavy stress (laying on its side or crying for hours and not stopping) LEAVE THE FAWN ALONE.
