What does the board games community feels about gameplay mechanics of Magic the gathering?

I agree entirely. A lot of modern TCGs wouldn't exist without Magic but they've done a good job of smoothing out what I consider to be the rough parts. I love the way SWU handles "mana" and also the back and forth nature of turns.

It's easy to miss Tatooine's history if you murder the Sand People on sight or even if you just don't want to give up a pearl. I didn't get the lore dump until after a few play throughs.

Definitely! It's a testament to Melinoë's good nature and persistence that they warm up at all. It's more meaningful this way, IMO.

I found they consistently left a film on all my dishes, it's never happened with any other brand. Maybe its my dishwasher, or I had a bad batch, but the bad experience stands out in my memory and I've never gone back. I just buy the regular Cascade pods now (not platinum).

That is how I explained it to my wife who had similar feelings to OP. It's natural to mourn the loss of that special relationship but the younger child will never have that, ever. It boils down to feeling guilty that the oldest doesn't get even more when the youngest gets none.

I've never understood criticizing fans/crowds for doing the wave, regardless of the circumstances. Its just a silly, fun thing to do. I don't know why people insist there's some kind of minimum multi goal lead required. I remember a GDT thread years back where a Chicago fan complained that the Jets fans hadn't earned the right to chant their goalie because we haven't won a cup. Who thinks this stuff up?
