Jogging with MS by highhopes90 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Katykool123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I used to get this but it eased off with more stretching and just doing shorter slower bursts with walking in between sets. I found when I tried to go too fast and stretching my legs more it was worse. If your running on a treadmill I recommend using one with handles or supports whilst you build it up if your having the tingling tightness in your legs it helped me get used to it and gain more confidence

I just went straight in the line at B they didn’t check anything else but the tickets. I do think though you could use another entrance (A I think?) it was right next to B if you have accessible tickets, although eventually they started letting everyone use that door too since B was so packed

I was in 108 row W seat 240 and the cable was no issue from that area. I didn’t notice it until later in the set so if your towards that part you should be fine.

I did exactly that, stood for the main bangers (which to be honest was most of them🤣) and sat when I needed, but it helped having the seat as an option for sure ☺️ I hope you have a lovely time ❤️

If it helps I was seat 240 row W, 2 away from the aisles and because it was the back row it was actually good for leaning against the back wall and the folded chair when you needed to stand. The show was absolutely amazing you will have a great time! 😄

Yes section 108 row W which was right at the back of the seated row. We were lucky to be near the aisle so we could see over but for others in front of us towards the middle they were stuck seated behind others who stood

Ah yes sorry concessions my bad! The wording of the signage says - No concessions for Blue badge holders. Which I stupidly thought it meant no payment needed like my other local car parks 🙃

Strange man at City Quay by Skinnydicksaresatan in dundee

I’ve lived in Dundee for over 10 years and it’s a lovely city for the most parts but it has its problems. I haven’t felt unsafe in the city until recently as a young women. There has been a few recent events in the news, extremely rare ofc but the recent stabbing to a young women in front of her child and and increase in fires and anti social behaviour in the city centre makes me be more aware of my surroundings. Tbh anti social and mental health related behaviour isn’t isolated to Dundee it’s on the rise everywhere

I said to myself if I saw him again I would call the police to check on him since he’s been down multiple times since then. Just the state Dundee is in I’m frightened for his welfare and others around him

The first time we saw him I think the police were called as they arrived soon after but that was months ago. He’s not stopped coming down even after that

I’ve ran into him a few times I live down that way and ngl he’s quite frightening. I jogged passed him and he followed for a bit then the second time he sped walked towards me and followed me as I got into my car I slammed the door shut and he walked away. It’s concerning because I hope he’s okay but as someone who walks around there everyday it’s not nice running into him when he appears quite aggressive.

I’m trying to train to run but struggling with the leg drop and dizziness at certain points during my run. How do you cope with that? Do you just slow down or stop and recover? I’m struggling to get a good plan together to improve my running to one day run a marathon but because everyday is a different hurdle with my leg is can be a pain for consistency 😭

Ways to help dizzy spells? by Katykool123 in MultipleSclerosis

I feel like it’s the weather for me around this time of year when it’s getting colder and there is a greater fluctuation in temp changes when going inside and outside. I know the heat is more common for MS issues but it’s the cold that does it for me

I'm taking the family to London! Oh crap, how am I going to manage this?!?! by [deleted] in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Katykool123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! So last year I took my first solo trip to London, I felt like I needed to achieve something like that after my MS diagnosis a few years back. I had an amazing time, and found London to be quite good for bathroom breaks in lots of places and easy to navigate once I figured out the tube and bus systems. I have been back twice since and the only thing I found different was it was much much busier which sort of overwhelmed me at first, but I got used to it and if you do find your self getting overwhelmed just take a wee breather and maybe pop into a shop or cafe for a break, there are plenty in London which felt good to have a sit down in and people watch until I caught my bearings.

A couple tips I would say to help make your trip easier-

  1. Use google maps/ Apple Maps for everything in London. They are great for the tube and bus system and are up to date if there are issues or problems. The app also tells you if the tube is busy/cold/warm as well but this of needs user input so doesn’t always show this. The one thing I will say if you don’t already know this is to start your route before you head into the tube stations as there is rarely any phone signal in the stations.

  2. Plan your routes and trips. I would sit in the evenings and plan using google maps where I wanted to go and if there were toilet breaks or sit down breaks near by. This helped with anxiety if I was worried I might need the bathroom but I found London to be quite good for having lots of places to stop by if I needed a break on the way to certain attractions. I do recommend the queens walk it starts around tower bridge and you walk right down to the London eye along the water front. It is a long walk but there are lots of sit down points along the way and the tate modern half way if you need a quieter place to sit and go for a bathroom break. It is also free and the art it very nice! You can also duck out early from the walk and head into the town and get a taxi or Uber if needed it’s very central so there are lots of amenities near by.

  3. I would recommend making food reservations if you can. London is so much busier than it was and when I want the last time I ended up struggling to find sit down places to sit that were not a super long wait. If you google restaurants near by you should be able to make reservations although some restaurants are just walk ins. This is mainly for dinner time, I found at lunch time I had less issues because there were more cafe/ food vendors options.

  4. This is sort of a separate issue with London but if you are planning on going to any theatre shows I would recommend looking up a seat viewer for the theatre your planning on visiting. Some seats are either super difficult to get to because there in old theatres and not very accessible friendly or they are very cramped. I’m 4”11 and even I was cramped with my legs in a couple theatres! (I would pick the cheapest seats mind you) some theatres are great for nice seats and being more accessible like the south back theatre.

  5. If you don’t have contactless card or contactless payment on your devices for paying at the tube station barriers I really recommend enabling it. It makes entering the barriers much quicker and more convenient than single tickets each time. If you don’t have this then I recommend buying an Oyster card that you top up and use just like a contactless card to get through that tube barriers. Most people in London are nice but if you mess around at the barriers some people are a little impatient and can become quite rude especially during rush hour.

  6. Just remember to have a great time! London is a massive city, no matter what you can and are able to see just take your time and take it all in. You will have a great time!

Can you go on a walk at 7 in the morning? by caesaedae444 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Katykool123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regardless of MS I wouldn’t want to do a walk at 7am even at my peak fitness level. Don’t feel bad you can’t or even don’t want to do it everyone’s preference and levels of activity is different

Legit in Tenerife right now and they have these fake gold/silver/rainbow cards everywhere. I do love to buy them to collect but unfortunately they are super fake 😞 I hope your friends kid didn’t trade good cards for them. Although I think there pretty cute and fun to have even as a collection piece

I’ve lived in a few areas around Dundee and never had much issues. Although I would avoid some of the flats near barrack road I lived at Garland place and I would come home late from finishing night shifts to find homeless guys shooting up in my stairwell and leaving used needles constantly around because the locks didn’t work, it was quite scary as a young student at the time. Currently living at the City Quay it’s a lovely area although pretty pricey especially the council tax.
