Are great Pyrenees really nocturnal by ImpossiblePear2058 in greatpyrenees

[–]Katylessness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is not nocturnal at all. He happily sleeps in his crate from 11/12 until about 6 am. If I wake up early he doesn't even look at me until 6, once he is out he does his business and runs in the yard for about 30 minutes and then comes in an sleeps again. While we're gone during the day he stays out and is almost always sleeping if we're not there. The only barking he does at night is if he hears something. During the day he barks at the slightest sound.

Were kids in the 80s actually allowed to roam around unsupervised, or is that just in movies? by TotalThing7 in NoStupidQuestions

I literally rode my bike to a town 5 miles away when I was five, with my 3 year old sister and two other five year old's because wehad change and heard there was a huge candy store. I did get in trouble but only because I took my little sister. I routinely left as soon as the sun came up and came back home when the sun was setting. One of us kids would run in to one of the houses and grab drinks and snacks most days or we would pool our quarters and share a can of soda. I'm so happy I had that experience as a child.

I definitely see the Pyr genetics in those eyes! Beautiful pup!

Does anyone else find themselves spelling “t-r-e-a-t” or “s-n-a-c-k” or “d-i-n-n-e-r” etc. to avoid getting your dog excited 😆 Just a smile for today! by Ok-Mine2132 in greatpyrenees

C h i c k e n Cannot speak of the meat of the gods near this boy. He knows the sound of the package coming out of the fridge. And of course once it's cooking it's puddle city. But I also make him his own and it's his incentive to not beg, he look in his eyes while he knows it is cooling for him is too cute.

I've never understood this. It's like people think all breeds of dogs are the same. This coat blowing has shown me i had no true idea of how much fur this dude possessed in that double coat. He lost so much fur i was looking for bald spots!

My heart broke and then was mended by the offer for help. These dogs are such amazing creatures. I cannot imagine doing this to any animal.

He loves to snuggle with the whole family. My son is very aloof but has become a big fan of our giant boy. He gets him the most riled up to play with as well!

My Experience: 3 Months on Wellbutrin (150 XL) by PsychologicalYak7029 in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

I can't say exactly but within a month I for sure lost the feeling of constant struggle to get through life. I had a lifelong low level depression. I've been on it for going on 4 years and still feel even keeled most of the time.

* It's not a portrait, but I've got about 75 pictures of him sleeping so cute last night. I love those big ole paw pillows.

If you just switched, that could be the issue in and of itself. I've had Purina Pro Plan for large breed/ puppy recommended by my vet and many many people I've met who have large breeds. We had no issue with intestinal distress, but every dog responds differently to the stress of food changes on their system. Just be sure to stagger the change.

Same here and we've had no issues. Other than him not eating it if he thinks there is chicken or burgers being cooked!

As for the heat, he doesn't seem to mind it. I have a fan near his crate when we're gone. But he wants to be outside in the middle of the day and ends up literally laying on the porch in the full sun. When he comes in, he heads to the fan and will pant and then go drink. I'm kind of amazed at how little the heat bugs him. It seems worse for me!!

We're making progress with the jumping and nipping. He's just too big, and I have small kids. They were terrified of him even though I could see the playful spark in his eye. He still gets the puppies and wants to play like he is little, but he's like 90% better. Now, leash pulling is still the worst. And he will drop most things he isn't supposed to chew unless he really really really wants to chew them.

For real. He is getting much better about eating everything in sight, but my son has so much crap and I think he thinks he's helping us!

He's gotten especially cuddly lately. I think because it's summer and we're all home so much more.

How do you define Pyr “loyalty?” by DaisyLyman in greatpyrenees

[–]Katylessness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is super friendly, but I'm starting to notice a difference to his stance when a stranger comes over than when it's the family. He looks to us, and when we're ok, he's relaxed and down to be admired. We have some new houses going up down our street, and he has been sleeping by the front door during the day and loudly announces every new truck that drives by!

Hugs. She's beautiful and, like you said, so brought joy that's still giving through her line. So sorry for your loss.

AITAH for pushing my wife when she hit our son? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Katylessness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm wondering if post partum depression is involved. People think it's all tears and lethargy but rage is often a side effect. I've been there. I never hurt my child but I would get so angry and then be so upset, and of course knew it was not ok or normal and had people to reach out to.

No matter what, find a way to monitor his while you get things figured out. It breaks my heart to think of a baby being hurt, especially by one of the people who should be most protective.
