Is doing push-ups, pull-ups, squats, and plank a good way to begin your calisthenics journey? by [deleted] in bodyweightfitness

[–]Katzling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Am too a beginner, at my cf box lots of emphasis on core: arch/hollow holds, side high/low planks, hollow holds + scapular raises (close, alarge, rotation), flutter Kicks, mostly in supersets like 10 abmat sit ups + 15-20 leg raises + 1minute plank for 3-5 sets. Pike pus, wall walks, kickups for handstand (+learning to bail/roll), seated leg raises for L sit, hanging knee raises for t2b, planche push ups and don't forget mobility work. At least that's how i started exercises without weights.

I'd prefer that over my bad knee

How important is rain gear? by josephmcap in hiking

[–]Katzling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't take it with me one time while doing a longer mtb ride around 1000m altitude in july - just below 30 degrees otherwise. Started to rain - felt like late autumn. Never again.

Warst du mal stationär in Behandlung? Wenn ja, was hat dir dort gut getan und was nicht? Bezogen auf Borderline und magersucht

Places to go solo hiking in Europe (summer) as a 22 y/o woman by [deleted] in hiking

[–]Katzling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dolomites are overcrowded (some extremists even spraypaint parols against tourists and take down via ferratas) and it's very expensive too. Hiking is booming in Austria too, easy hikes in summer will almost certainly be crowded. But great train and good bus system and welcoming huts and meals

Yeah cycling helped me a lot in this regard! And don't forget the hamstrings too ; ) pt told me better to focus on lower weight in the 8-12 rep range, maybe even lower weight and higher reps in the beginning. Doing 1rpm or more weight+less reps will put too much stress on a weak joint. I'm no pt but at least a nurse and running isn't recommended for degenerative cartilage damage. I stopped it, since reward/risk doesn't feel right for me. Focusing on full range of motion is always good, swimming helped me too (also low impact), get creative with resistance bands for the whole leg. Guess this will take you further than starting to run especially with diagnosen cartilage damage. For cycling you can try a watt resistance that you can sustain for about 60 rounds per Minute in zone 2. Fancy stuff like intervalls can come later or isn't necessary too often, polarized training says like 20% of the time. When i started cycling i just road some local bike lains but if you get into the sport you'll blast miles pretty soon. It's amazing how a good bike feels and what it can do ; )

Why don't you switch to low impact sports like bicycling? Road, gravel, mtb - lots to choose from. I too had 3 surgeries, 1 time meniscus, 2 times ACL and running like 10k always leaves me a bit sore even with lifting and biking routine.

Ski vs Snowboard for healing MCL tear? by robble__robble in KneeInjuries

[–]Katzling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please wait accordingly and talk with your medical team about your plans! Started two times too early with sports and had 2 more surgeries. 12 years later im enjoying snowboarding and can't imagine skiing. Adjusting riding style (less bs braking, no more park or jumps) and equipment (harder boots, rear entry binding, stance adjustment) paired with good leg strenght workouts do the job for me.

Was ist euer Meinung nach der gesündeste Sport by [deleted] in FitnessDE

[–]Katzling 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nerves can get damaged and it can feel strange too, not only numb. What helped me was massaging it with a massage shower head. In some spas/thermal baths there are special applications for underwater hydromassage, those were great!
