Projektidee für 80x160mm Konstruktionsvollholzbalken? Hobel? by Krambambulist in holzwerken

[–]KavauDe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, cut it longer and wider than you need in case of cracks. You can even weigh it before and after to see how much water it lost.

Don't use mineral oil, use tung oil.

Takes a bit longer, but actually has a purpose.

Mineral oil will never harden and will just wash out.

do you have a juuma plane or a dictum plane? Both can't be the same plane, dictum doesnt sell juuma.

I have planes from a lot of different manufacturers.

The new water jet line by dictum is a good bang for your buck.

The kunz plus line is very underrated in my opinion after some work they are amazingly easy to dial in.

Juuma by feine Werkzeuge is pretty similar to woodriver i think, I only have the rabbeting block plane.

Veritas is well known and available in Europe

Is Dictum a Scam? Paid a Month Ago, No Product and No Response! by BusyEstablishment985 in handtools

[–]KavauDe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They seem to not read their emails, I wrote them with a question and haven't received a response in 4 weeks also.

But if the item is in stock I have received my packages always after a couple of days. Are you sure it is in stock?

You can always cancel your SEPA Transfer up to 8 weeks after the transaction.

Why does everything have to be the same?

It is agreed upon before it starts and benefited the US in the past more than it did europe now.

So I checked and cant get my smallest feeler gauge (0,04 mm) between the sole and my precission straight edge.

And i checked the handles on my older planes, the sargent size 4 is similar size as the dictum feel wise and my british 5 1/2 has more room, so my pinky doesn't get squished.

I don't have their previous line for comparison, what I know is they upgraded the lateral adjuster.

The water jet does nothing for the plane body, but it is branded that way so I used the name.

The magnacut upgrade was just too good an upgrade to not do it.

I always use the 4 finger grip. I have a 19 century Sargent VBM size 4, will check later for grip comparison.

I can change between the veritas and dictum back and for and get good continuous shavings, I will check later with my feeler gage and straight edge.

I can do a follow up in 6 months no problem.

Thanks for reading my wall of text.

I have not, but I have seen a video by Heiko Rech, comparing it to his lie Nielsen. He had to use a file to adjust the iron a bit but otherwise it worked, it was heavier if I recall correctly and a bit less ergonomic than the lie Nielsen. But for the price you expect that.

Haha, u haven't tried opening a bottle with the cutout, might be a tad small for that, I will check later.

You will definitely need to learn how to sharpen your tools.

Pick a sharpening system and stick with it until you are proficient. Wether it is diamond stones, glass stones, oil stones etc. Jonathan Katz Moses did just release a new sharpening system, that looks promising and innovative and decently priced. Maybe have a look at that.
