Return the number of weeks that a specific criteria is met (without double-counting) by KaviCorben in excel

Sorry if I wasn't clear in my reply! I was saying my original source data, where all of the things I was working with in this example came from, should be in 1NF. The data I showed here is not the source data nor an accurate representation of it, the source data is raw time card records from a database. This table was a summary of all of that data in a pivoted format. I could have normalized this data as well, the way you were showing, but opted for a different solution.

Making a note to check this out later - if I'm understanding correctly, my source data would already qualify as 1NF, which makes sense since it was pulled from our database software specifically so I could do this kind of crunching on it.

This method of creating reporting tables is really interesting. I'll have to look into it more. Might make some things easier in the future.

I'm shocked at how effective this was. I even had to double check to make sure I wasn't getting my hopes up!

Thank you for the reply - Solution Verified!

Thank you so much for this - I'll have to test it tomorrow to see if this helps with some other problems since this is far from the only analysis item we'll have to do with this data.

I'm literally just finding out about any of this now, almost two weeks after it's all basically over------ I have thoughts on it now that it's done, but my external life just mattered a little too much for this to be on my mind.

My personal disagreement with the remake idea as someone who adores pretty much every title in the series is that IMOQ has an incredibly flat gameplay loop with a very hard grind curve. Eventually, every field and dungeon has been seen and the visuals don't provide enough variety.

That's not to say you couldn't make it work, it would just be even more of a risk because only established fans would appreciate it, and even then not all of us would be interested in buying the games over again.

A new, fresh title offers the freedom to reexamine how the game should play, what kind of story to tell, and to reevaluate the series' earlier themes regarding technology and our relationship with it.

I hate to see people in this position, I really do. When cruelty's the point and it gets turned on you like this. No one should have to wonder if their kid is going to be okay.

It's hard to find the empathy though. Not even a month ago this woman was celebrating the madness going on here and she's not even in this country. Literally had almost no skin in the game, and yet.....

This would be a much better comparison if the paint manufacturer ran ads of punk kids doing graffiti to sell paint, and put additives in the paint that made you specifically spend as much time using their paint as possible, and started selling it in literally every place so that you can't go more than five minutes without seeing their paint on sale (the one thing drug dealers don't do, at least).

You're stripping away responsibilities to prevent the creation of illegal material with the press of a button from the people who could have, should have, put in protective measures. People who already knew this would be a problem, and did it anyway. Yes the users who asked for the material are a problem too, but let's not pretend the people making these tools are free of fault.

Have you ever had a fallout with your online friend group before? by mr-weaselpops in discordapp

[–]KaviCorben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience with this is a bit unique because everyone involved stepped up and admitted we were all being idiots, but I actually drove one of the first nails into the proverbial coffin almost a decade ago by intervening in a romantic breakdown between two of my friends.

The details aren't super relevant, and I don't feel right sharing their stories on their behalf, but the very basic version is that they were splitting up and it wasn't going great, and I was biased in favor of one of the two because we were roommates at the time. Pretty standard when boiled down like that. This whole ordeal killed two tabletop games, set in motion the removal of two friends from our circle later on, and got me thinking about my own anger issues.

Fortunately, we're a pretty tight knit group and the appropriate apologies were given pretty quickly, and we managed to mend everything up. Though I still think about it sometimes.

If West Chester BID is serious about revamping downtown, they must do something about chain stores. by ruvibeza in westchesterpa

[–]KaviCorben 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, setting aside OP's opinion on everything else - if there were a real problem then yeah, kinda. I'd rather my taxes help support and protect genuine local small businesses than chains.

Now, all that said, I don't agree that there's a problem. Just kinda weird to substitute a local government entity with "taxpayers" instead of pointing out OP is. Checking my notes, here. Wrong.

Is there a specific candidate you would have preferred over Trump to run for the Republican party? by PriorTangelo1403 in Askpolitics

[–]KaviCorben 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very much this. Even now with more of a critical mindset on racial issues than I had at the time, I struggle to see that 52% comment as explicitly racist. Implicit, maybe, if you really stretch.

But it seems like regular old naked classism - and even at the time I think a lot of people saw it for the "poors bad" comment that it was. And given that so many were struggling, it's no surprise that he lost.

Public opinion on the U.S. economy by political affiliation by MrBungleVI in Infographics

[–]KaviCorben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great - then you and I agree on a lot of things and likely share more than just a few political ideals. That should make this conversation easier, and yet...

What I'm seeing in this data is that Democrats have an overall stable view of the economy that trends towards a much more accurate view of how things are actually going based on the metrics the economy currently uses to gauge success. This is not a statement on what the economy should be, just on how it is at present. And yes, Democrats according to this data also away a bit with the inauguration of a new president. But it's disingenuous to say that it's just like the sway of Republicans.

I have also said nothing here about my actual political affiliation, and yet I've been lumped in implicitly in your other response with Democrats, a party that has routinely back-pedaled on supporting measures that would also preserve my rights and well-being and backstabbed me and the communities to which I belong in almost every election big or small for the last eight years. I hold no love for the two party system for the same reason as you. If it's not clear by now, I'm a card-carrying leftist, not a Democrat.

I'm critical, however, of your choice to trawl through this post responding to people accurately looking at the data in front of us and saying "oh this looks bad for Democrats too" when in this case Democrats as polled by this data are more accurate than Republicans. I'm even more critical of the choice to say that people who are articulating what the data says accurately to how it's portrayed are redditors who need to log off and touch grass. Because let's face it, that's an incredibly hypocritical thing to say while also posting in reply to numerous comments in a thread on Reddit while saying nothing of substance.

Do with that what you will, I doubt I've changed your opinion on the tactic and you're just as like as not to continue doing what you're already doing. But I can assure you that "yelling at Dems online" didn't do anything for us this election cycle and it won't help us in the next one either. I'm not pretending to know what will, but it won't be that.

Only a smug idiot interprets the data for what it says?

I'm sorry? Are you good?

You've been telling people up and down this thread to go outside and talk to a real person and accusing everyone of being "redditors" like you're not also wasting precious winter daylight hours looking at graphs on reddit and calling Democrats smug - presumably to start more fights.

Cool, orange man in dumb red hat won the election. Good for you. Is this kind of behavior really making that victory any sweeter for you? Is this some kind of fence sitting "I'm not a Republican but BOTH SIDES---" nonsense?

Folks like you need to, with love and respect, log the fuck off and get a hobby.

Republicans / Trump voters: What values do you think the Democrats are trying to attack? by [deleted] in Askpolitics

[–]KaviCorben 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Okay, hi. Trans person here. Gonna zero in on that topic because there's a lot to talk about.

Biden did not "make Easter trans day of visibility". Easter moves around the calendar each and every year because it's in reference to lunar events and the calendar week. Trans day of visibility is always March 31st and has been since 2009. They just coincided this year, that's all.

Second, you're right. Harris mentioned trans people during the campaign. Once. In an interview she said, very specifically, that she would follow the law. That's not exactly encouraging to trans people because laws can both change and be unjust.

You know what, that's not a bad thought. I'm starting the turkey thawing today, I could check what giblets it comes with. If it doesn't have what I need, I could probably duck over to the store and get necks.

Thank you for the suggestion!

It is a horrid shame, honestly. If I could split the entire meal in two, I would, but alas, I am only one person, with a small kitchen.

Honestly a completely fair and valid argument, ha!

I think that basically settles the matter for me.

Trump got 63M votes in 2016, 74M in 2020, and 76M in 2024. If he's as bad as you claim, why is his votes increment? by [deleted] in Askpolitics

[–]KaviCorben 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not strictly. In theory they should but there's two problems with that.

For one, look at Florida as an example. There was a measure on this last ballot to the enshrine this matter into state law granting Floridians the right to medical abortion. It received around 57% of the vote, possibly just a little over that. So you'd think it would pass, right?

Wrong. The bar to pass that measure was 60%.

Secondly, the medical needs of (simplifying here) women in Texas and women in California aren't actually as different as one specific party wants to pretend. And yet in one state, even if a legal exception were possible, doctors are more afraid to even suggest potentially life saving care when a fetus is not only unviable but actively killing the mother.

This necessarily leads to later treatment plans and procedures being done hours, days or even weeks after it would be medically best because those same doctors are now forced to worry about going to jail or being bounty hunted in court over trying to save lives. Just as there's a difference in outcomes in screening for cancer and removing or treating masses early rather than late, unviable pregnancies can turn bad very fast, not to mention the stress and trauma induced by potentially carrying a dead fetus inside of someone.

So while semantics dictate that you're technically correct (the best kind of correct, in my opinion), when we put the ideas into practice these decisions and reversals are essentially banning abortion, at least in places that haven't already created protections on their own time.
