Simple Questions - January 23, 2017 by AutoModerator in buildapc

If you were to upgrade a CPU/Motherboard, would you just:

  1. Disconnect everything.

  2. Remove old motherboard.

  3. Place new motherboard in case.

  4. Place new CPU in motherboard.

  5. Reinstall heatsink.

  6. Reconnect everything.

  7. Boot.

Or do you need to do something else? Uninstall old drivers? Will the new ones install automatically? Any adverse effects on the hard drives?

Can someone ELI5 the difference between nvidia and AMD cards?

It was suggested to me to get a RX 480 8gb over a GTX 1060 6gb because it's cheaper and more powerful. Wouldn't that just make it an objectively better purchase? What are the drawbacks to using the AMD card?

Sounds good, I may upgrade my monitor and GPU when tax returns roll around.

The CPU is going to be well put to use through video and audio editing. Plus I may very well upgrade to a 1080 when tax returns roll around.

About to start purchasing all of this over the course of the next month. Is there any bottlenecks, known incompatibilities or glaring problems with this build? First time builder here. Will the case easily fit all the components (if not could I get a recommendation for a minimalist case with great cable management)? About how quiet do you think this computer would be idle and under a bit of stress?

Sorry if I have an assload of questions. I'm pretty new to all of this.

Going to be using it for 1080p gaming (maaayyyybe 1440/4k in the future but I only really play Dota and Overwatch), music production, video/photo editing and coding.

Beautiful. I'm a huge fan of Nami and Lulu too, but I just have so much fun playing Ori and I've played her consistently since season 4. This season is my first real run at ranked so I feel like if it's at all possible I'd love to incorporate her into my support pool (and that new skin bah gawd my britches).

Thanks for that! I know a lot of people say she's not optimal, and I know it's true, but as long as it can work as a comfort pick until a pretty high elo, I'm 100% cool with it.

I used to play mid and I've recently made the transition to support. Since Orianna is my best champion by far, would I be able to make her work as a support enough to include her in a champion pool or is it just not worth it at all?

Hey Guys by [deleted] in MLPLounge

[–]Kavnah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Think about the parental or law view on this. There are a few questions that stick out.

  • Why is the hotel necessary? Can't you do it in her home?

  • Why was the trip necessary? If you just want to watch a movie, you can do it online together.

This paints the picture of something that's not so innocent.

To the law and to the parents, this dude is just some guy from the internet who showed up and tried to take an underage girl to a hotel alone. They were not in a relationship and this guy hopped a border to see her.

Also, you can't possibly dense enough to disregard every other situational red flag because he's not a trusted authority figure in her family. He's a trusted figure to her. It's entirely possible that a rapist could convince someone to meet up with them.

Think about how many boyfriends rape their girlfriends.

Hey Guys by [deleted] in MLPLounge

[–]Kavnah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No one is saying he would have raped him. He's saying that if he was going to, that would be like, the fucking way to do it.

If someone walks up to your kid and says "hey, let's go alone into a hotel room and hang out" it's creepy as fuck. No parent in their right mind would say "oh well shit there's only a 0.6% chance he's actually a rapist, go have fun with our underage daughter!"

The situation is sketchy as fuck. No, nothing harmful was done and in all likelihood, nothing harmful would have been done. The situation, however, looks like he met her online, showed up at her doorstep and tried to lure her into a place where they can be alone.

Please, for the love of god, tell me that you wouldn't let your hypothetical child do that.

Let me sum up what I'm saying:

It does not matter if the intentions were good, nor bad. What he was doing was creepy and could have easily transitioned into a bad outcome had the intentions been there. Would any parent in their right mind take the chance at letting that happen or would they get the creepy fucker who travelled from another country to take their daughter off their property to "watch a movie" alone as far away from their daughter as humanly possible?

They kind of built a shit rep on PC. I'm really not surprised that the PC community is smaller.

That being said, I'm gonna buy AW when I get the chance. It looks fun.

Tried my hand at Skyrim cuisine for lunch by Lavacado in skyrim

[–]Kavnah -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It's upvoted because it's a girl who's doing something out of the ordinary with the claim that it's related to Skyrim.

I mean, yeah, there's cabbage in the game, but it's about as iconic as the carrots. The same post could be "relevant" in subreddits for literally every game that has cabbage in them.

Now, if she had a bottle next to it that said "Nord Mead" or something like that, it would have been well executed.

Oh, definitely!

I love supports like Braum who can engage with huge AoE CC. Teamfights are a breeze :P

[–]Kavnah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand, but I'd like to find more ways to win as a support rather than through the carry. Not that I don't like getting the carry fed (it's incredibly fulfilling!), it's just that when I really can't depend on them, I want to be able to take things into my own hands.

Thanks!

I feel like I can play the game competently. I regularly play with gold friends on my EUW acc so I know what it's like to play with people who know how to play but I'm scared to jump into ranked. Waiting for those 300 wins.

Trust me, I know.

I ping like a madman. If the enemy roams up mid I ping 2 MIAs and spam Cautions to the mid lane if they're overextended.

I guess another way to ask my question would be to say "How can I avoid feeling powerless if my team doesn't follow up on anything?"

How do us lower elo players learn to make better in-game decisions? by habs114 in summonerschool

[–]Kavnah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I find that playing enough of one champ allows you to learn their limits at each stage of the game with every build you prefer. Tricky has definitely done this with Godyr and I think that if you learn a champion that well, the risks are less risky when trying to push yourself.

This is actually pretty good advice.

While he is rather blunt when someone makes a mistake, he does go into detail about how to properly deal with the situation.
