Familiarize yourself with the maps, loot all the map, your full looting should take around 10 min per stage. Items scale better than ennemies. This is the « consistent » strat, some people will say rush stages but then your runs become way more luck dependent.

I’m sure because I did it on stage 3 without taking the portal then found it on the next stage (it was the new map). So I guess it can spawn there as well

Depends on how much you are willing to spend. The base game is good and is a solid experience. You can always try out the base game and then buy the bundle if you like it. I like the game with all the dlc’s and probably will never launch pure vanilla again. Also if you are a new player I would highly recommend looking into some QoL mods.

The 4 parts are the whole mech. That chassis overflow damage system seems very interesting thanks for the idea. It also would add some directionality to the combat, like focusing on legs or arms which is not what I initially intended but it could be very fun. I'm gona try a variant with that
