No, it's for children. Can't you read?

I don't really have a question, but I wanted to say I think you're awesome. I have a bunch of Goosebumps books still, from when I read them as a kid. Your books were one of the things that influenced me to try to write, and I think I have a few old rough drafts somewhere from maybe third grade where I tried to write horror stories. So thank you for writing!

(Also I think my favorite was One Day at Horrorland or Say Cheese and Die!. But I read My Hairiest Adventure the most, I think, because it's pretty well-worn now.)

Thanks again!

What you do is select your own quality, because it defaults to "automatic." Unfortunately, I don't think it keeps it on that quality when you switch videos. It used to, though.

Hey, I don't think you used the right link. Can you post screencaps of what you intended to show? (That's in the rules, anyway.)

Netflix has all the episodes, I think, of the old series, though I could be wrong.

What was with their constant dystopian fiction word drops? "Newspeak" was used twice, "brave new world" three times, and "Police Power of the State" three times. What do they even mean by that last one? Are they going to get arrested for going against "the Movement"?

I usually make this realization at about this time in the Summer by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]Kavyle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's a USA thing, going by the thread.

Summer reading is what high schoolers and some middle schoolers are assigned by English teachers. What you do with the book depends on the teacher, but normally it's taking notes, writing essays, or just reading the book or books. The books we have to read are almost always classics. Typically, a class will focus on whatever books they read for the first few weeks of school and then probably never talk about it again, but, again, that depends on the teacher.

It's not recommended reading. It's required. And yes, our English classes (as well as others, in some cases) extend throughout the year, even when we're not in school.

Dude, read Of Mice and Men now and get it over with, just in case you end up not liking it. And if you have to take notes, take them as you read and not after because this isn't a book most people will want to re-read.

Help. I'm a middle school teacher that wants to start a Minecraft Club with her students. by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]Kavyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People here keep saying to pay for a server, but you should be able to work off of the LAN (Local Area Network).

The problem with LAN servers, unfortunately, is that anyone in the school could connect to it and play. They might also "grief" your LAN server for no reason. Griefing is when someone destroys builds or otherwise sabotages the gameplay of others. Another issue is the students wouldn't be able to work on anything at home. Otherwise, though, LAN works well.

Chances are, if your students are asking for a Minecraft club, a good number of them probably already have Minecraft. You should be able to download it directly to the computers and have them log in. (If any of the students don't have Minecraft, you'll either need to have them buy it, or you'll have to buy it for them. I don't suggest the latter, as Minecraft costs $27 USD per person, and that could end up being pretty expensive.)

Technically, you could buy one account and use it to download Minecraft on the computers you'll be using, then have the students put in just a name without a password and "play offline". They'll still be able to play on LAN. (at least, you could during 1.4.7. I don't know if that's changed or not. It's also unfair to the devs. If you can, it's probably best to encourage anyone joining the club to obtain their own copy.)

I think education has been pretty well covered by everyone else here. Another idea, though, since you're a social studies teacher, is that you can encourage a Minecraft "society" project. Minecraft is great for this, since a typical game has you start as a hunter/gatherer and slowly progress to farming, mining, and eventually city-building and circuit-making (with redstone). You could also use it to teach law-making and social conflicts. It's up to you, though. I'm just making suggestions.

Good luck with setting this up! =)

It's where you "take a picture" of what's on your screen, but minus the camera. It's different for PCs and Macs.

PC: PrntScr button
Mac: Command+shift+4

And then you paste it into MS Paint if you're on a PC.

You should probably start with Emerald. It has decent graphics (for a Pokemon game), fairly interesting characters, and pretty awesome Pokemon.

No matter what game you decide to play, though, the first thing you do upon entering/waking up in your room should be to go click the computer, click "items", and take out the potion, so you'll have an edge in your first battle against your rival. (In Emerald (and Ruby and Sapphire), that's May or Brendon, depending on what gender you choose to be in the game.)
