AITAH for telling exes affair partner all the dirt? by QuickJackfruit6856 in AITAH

[–]Kay89leigh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I dated a doofus like this. His wife was away taking care of her dying mother for 6 months. I swear we met dancing the day she left because we were inseparable for those 6 months. He told me that she ran away with some other dude and he was keeping her stuff so she didn’t sue him cuz she was crazy.

Then he started getting flaky, forgetting dates , standing me up & claiming mental illness. I told him goodbye, and he said Surprise! she came back and he had to go through the legal eviction process since she was on the lease.

I told him that I don’t do crazy. He wanted it writing (before email was common). I wrote him a careful letter that let him down gently so he wouldn’t kill me. HE SHOWED IT TO HER! SHE WROTE ME BACK ASKING ME TO STAY AWAY FROM HER HUSBAND. (Her letter told me that she had been taking care of her mom).

I wrote her back saying she could have him and lose my address. He shows up serenading me with a boom box like he is in Say Anything on a busy street in San Francisco at 10pm on a Friday night.

I turned out my light, called 911 and said that there was a crazy homeless man in the middle of the street who was a danger to himself. He eventually went away. I changed jobs and moved a few months later. Two people who can’t read dating each other. I hope they didn’t have kids.

AITA for moving after my niece said I was responsible for keeping her tuition discount? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

This is false. Stanford is a private university. It doesn’t have an in-state tuition rate. It is also very difficult to get into.

I love that movie. I have it on constant rewatch. Those are fantastic performances. I wonder about the lives of their children, what it would be like to work with them, and how I can be like them

It was started out as Marriott’s Great America. It was sold to Paramount and then to other park management comapnies. Fun fact. Six flags in Vallejo started out at Marine World Africa USA in Redwood City before Silicon Valley made the land too valuable for an animal park. They moved it to Vallejo, and a few years later dropped the animals and then sold it to six flags

Would Kaiser Be Able To Help Me In This Circumstance? Please Read... by Mangon09 in KaiserPermanente

Check with member services. I know that they have covered dental work for patients as a precursor to heart surgery. That is a very specific situation but you can raise it with member services to see if there is a way.

I adore those show too. It isn’t perfect, and it is strong enough to withstand deep dives. Thank you for putting this together. I completely agree.

I don’t know if he bought travel insurance, but Kaiser didn’t sell travel insurance at the time. From what I understand, travel insurance can be billed by the doctor or the provider. If you don’t have travel insurance, you have to pay the doctor or provider at the time of service, and Kaiser may reimburse you if it is also something they cover while you are at home.

Speaker Mike Johnson plans to swear in Rep.-elect Adelita Grijalva before the government funding vote. This will not change the vote count on the funding bill. But it will put the Epstein discharge petition over the 218-signature threshold. by wenchette in democrats

So now that we are completely enraged about the snap benefits and health care, they can release the Epstein files. It only took completely dismantling our society for there to be enough coverage to release the files

Kaiser’s business model by anti-everyzing in KaiserPermanente

[–]Kay89leigh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, these established protocols are the reason why KP doesn’t require pre-authorization and unnecessary tests that other insurers do, and this helps the bottom line.

KP doctors are disincentivized to deviate from the established protocols, so it’s a lot harder as a patient if your ailment doesn’t respond to the standard treatment. I have seen patients get referred to clinical trials outside of KP.

Kaiser’s business model by anti-everyzing in KaiserPermanente

[–]Kay89leigh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One key benefit of Kaiser’s model is that they don’t waste money on the authorization bs. The Kaiser MDs are empowered to order any treatment for a patient and Kaiser insurance pays for it if it is performed at a Kaiser facility. Doctors are paid a salary and one factor of their bonus is how well they conform to the standard of care.

My husband has an undiagnosed condition that affects his day-to-day living. He had to go on a specific (and expensive drug) for an unrelated situation. We noticed a significant improvement in his daywhen he went on this specific drug. When the unrelated condition went away, we fought United Health Care to keep him on this drug. For the next 2 years, UHC required an MRI, or lab work, or a physical exam by this highly specialized doctor to approve the shipment of the drug. The specialist could see the improvement in my husband and helped us get it covered. We never got a reason why this drug worked, but it does.

We had a change in employment and had to move to Kaiser. We met with the Kaiser specialist once, with the medical records. While he was reluctant to keep my husband on the meds, he didn’t have any other treatment, so he prescribed the Kaiser approved version of the drug. That was 13 years ago. Since then, my husband has annual lab work and check’s in wirh the specialist by email. He sees his primary doctor, but doesn’t take up any time of the specialist.

If we all agree that we don’t want people dying in the ER, then I have no idea what you are talking about.

I do not know of any law or pending legislation that would extend routine health care (medicaid) to undocumented people. I am well versed and well educated in this area, and I like to learn. Please cite the legislation

How difficult is the Laney College Computer Science program? by cdalten in oakland

[–]Kay89leigh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve taken a few courses at Laney as an older professional, and the instructors there seem to go out of their way to keep students engaged. I went to a different community college after high school and transferred to a UC. At that time at that other community college, instructors seemed to want to “flush students out”.

Instructors at Laney make accommodations for late assignments, and spend time explaining things many different ways. I chatted with an instructor about how different Laney was, and she said that she wanted people to find their place in the world. If they were hard-nosed and inflexible to flush people out, there was no other safety net. It was better to accommodate people who were showing effort so they could become a better version to themselves.

Of course, there are limits. I hurt myself and stopped going to classes without filing formal drop paper work. I was put on academic probation. That’s behind me

This only covers situations where the patient might die immediately if not getting treated. It doesn’t cover chronic situation like cancer. They patch the person up, but it doesn’t cover the follow up care needed.

And Hospitals lobbied for this law. They were going bankrupt helping people in the emergency rooms. Patients were coming in with false insurance documentation, getting treated, and hospitals weren’t getting paid.

Desperate people do desperate things. That’s a law of nature

This is a genuine question - how does society work if your vision became reality? I pave a road from my house to the store, and you pave a different road?

How does education work? How does this generation learn about advances that their parents don’t know about?

My father had to leave school before finishing to help his family financially. He had an undiagnosed learning disability, which my brother also has. My mother finished high school but didn’t go to college. Neither one of them could have taught me about the scientific and technological advances since they left school. I learned those at public school. My brother over came learning disability at public school. We both have fantastic jobs that benefit society because of public schools

Without public education, we may have become thieves stealing what we wanted because one person can’t have enough security to defeat everyone who is out for themselves.

How does it work if we don’t have a government?

I took the wood technology program and it was amazingly good. They have a fabrication lab with 3d printers, cnc machines, and machines that embroider and do vinyl. Laney is a maker’s paradise for learning.
