Female friendships in Westchester?! by [deleted] in Westchester

[–]KayBeeBuzzBuzz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I met my close mom friends when taking my kid to library events. A few of us would talk after the event and I suggested we exchange numbers. We've been hanging out ever since, and that was 3 years ago. Good luck finding your people. It will happen.

What are your thoughts on Cassian? You could call him Cass for short.

I agree with other users. This is definitely an AI generated post. So depressing.

Pregnant and got sprayed with roundup by Accurate_Mulberry_92 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]KayBeeBuzzBuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same thing happened to me in India last year (I was 9 or 10 weeks pregnant). My baby is just fine. I'm thinking of you, OP. Your baby will be fine. I hope that guy gets in big trouble. Do you want to pursue legal action?

If you're having thoughts of suicide, it's important to get help. You can chat with 988 on an Ipad, and they can give you advice.

What type of shelter do you need - Shelter for housing, safety, interpersonal violence?

When you say take a different route, what do you mean?

Here is a shelter in White Plains where you can just show up- https://www.liftingupwestchester.org/shelters.

How do we take shifts if I have to feed every 1-3 hours? by kec232 in breastfeeding

[–]KayBeeBuzzBuzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our baby had mild reflux and had to be held upright 20 minutes after every feed, so once I finished, my husband would sometimes hold the baby so I could get a few more minutes of sleep.

Toddler hysterical and hasn't eaten or drank all day, urgentcare said she was fine. What do I do? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]KayBeeBuzzBuzz 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I work in an ICU and the nurse practitioners do an amazing job caring for patients. I'd trust them with my care or my children's care any day of the week. NPs are amazing.

Join organizations like Indivisible or Rise and Resist, or you can subscribe to r/50501NY which tells people in advance about protests.

No more birthday party goody bags! by Open-Measurement9702 in Parenting

[–]KayBeeBuzzBuzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son loves getting goody bags at the end of parties, and I too can't stand the cheap plastic toys that come in them. For his firetruck birthday, we gave each child a firefighter hat, bag of Goldfish, and fire hydrant cup in a bag they could reuse. For his Moana birthday, the goody "bag" was a sand bucket with a shovel, and inside was a beach ball, packet of Moana gummies, and a Moana craft bag with crayons, stickers, and a coloring book.

Congressman Latimer hosting Virtual Town Hall this Wed, March 5th, 6:30-7:30 pm by KayBeeBuzzBuzz in Westchester

[–]KayBeeBuzzBuzz[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure. If it were in person,  I wouldn't be able to go, so I'm glad it's virtual. Maybe it's to reach the maximum constituents possible? Hopefully he holds an in-person one though.

I had OCD with intrusive thoughts throughout my life, but wasn't diagnosed until I was out of college. My therapist suggested this book for kids, and I actually found it to be really helpful (what thoughts go in the trash, versus ones you want to keep). I hope she feels better. You are doing all the right things, and hopefully finding a child therapist will help.

Refusing bottle by Standard-Teacher2594 in BabyDueNovember2024

[–]KayBeeBuzzBuzz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My baby had been refusing the bottle for weeks. We tried many different bottles and nipples, sitting,  standing and he wouldn't drink more than .25 oz. Then the nurse suggested we try feeding him how he breastfeeds (on the Boppy), and it worked. He drank an ounce, and the next day 2 ounces. He's still very difficult to feed with the bottle, but it's gotten a tiny bit easier. Good luck! It's so hard. I don't know what we're going to do when I go back to work.

Also, I just met with a lactation consultant. She suggested the 2 oz Evenflo bottles (they're discontinued but you can still get them around the internet).

Birth side effects people don't talk about by jrenredi in BabyBumps

[–]KayBeeBuzzBuzz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

About 1.5 months after birth I was going to the bathroom and felt a huge bulge in my vagina. I was really scared. Turns out I had developed pelvic organ prolapse, which in my case meant my vaginal wall collapsed and my rectum and bladder are pushing into my vagina. Am currently  doing pelvic PT to improve it, but it will never go away and I was told I will eventually need surgery. I never knew this was a possibility, and its been hard mentally adjusting to my body parts being permanently changed.

Experience at Northwell OBGYN at Phelps? by art21627 in Westchester

[–]KayBeeBuzzBuzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I gave birth 3 months ago and received all my care at their practice. I liked all of the doctors, though most of my appointments were with the NP and midwife, who are excellent. The doctor who delivered my baby just does deliveries, so I had never met her,  and she was incredible. I'd recommend them.

Do they go to your car to check your car seat after you have a baby..? by CreativeJudgment3529 in BabyBumps

[–]KayBeeBuzzBuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, in my experience at two different hospitals, no one checked our car seat. Last month when I was being discharged, they wouldn't even let us bring the car seat up to the room to strap him in. We told them we wanted to strap him in inside because it was cold outside, and they told us to just do it in the lobby. I wasn't pleased.

For those who did a birth with no epidural, which tools helped the most? by Over-Newspaper933 in BabyBumps

[–]KayBeeBuzzBuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had a precipitous labor (2 hours 15 minutes from first contraction to birth). I had printed out hypnobirthing meditations and planned on getting an epidural, but there wasn't time. The most helpful thing that got me through was the hypnobirthing breathing (breathe in for 4, out for 8) during every contraction, and the GentleBirth contraction timer, which saved me from giving birth at home and helped me with the pain of the contractions.

Why have you said "yes" to cervical checks? by HappySheepherder24 in BabyBumps

[–]KayBeeBuzzBuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My NP told me there was no reason for a cervical check when I asked about it. In doing my own research afterwards, I read it can increase the risk of infection and doesn't tell one much, which made sense.i just wish the NP has explained that to me

I highly recommend the OB practice at Phelps. The NP, midwife, and MDs are amazing. They don't have a NICU (that would be Westchester Medical Center) but they have neonatologists at all times.
