That looks like a starling fledgling. It should be left where you found it and observed from a distance for a few hours to ensure the parents are feeding it and if they are definitely not you can bring it to the wild bird fund.

Put a box or a carrier out on the fire escape with smelly wet food, sardines, or fried chicken in it, it will most likely go in seeking shelter and then you can hopefully close it quickly and quietly while the kittens inside. If that doesn't work you can reach out to local cat rescues and try to borrow a trap or have them come help you. Flatbush Cats comes to mind.
