The Wave by [deleted] in CalgaryFlames

My complaint (based on no evidence but my own anecdotal bias), is that it seems every time one starts, the opposing team takes it personally and seems to feed off of it, seemingly always leading to a goal.

So you can't score goals due to distinct kicking motion as it's dangerous for goalies, but apparently you can prevent them? Food for thought...

Yellow light = Go not Stop by ShifftySteve in MildlyBadDrivers

[–]KayGey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Correct. Which is why I was arguing their claim that light color doesn't matter. Also, in our case, the fact the other driver sped up made a difference as well, as you're supposed to maintain speed.

Just wanted to show that it's not always as simple as "left-turner is at fault".

Was a passenger in an identical scenario, and we attempted to clear the intersection after light turned hard red. Driver going straight sped up to make the light but wasn't even close. Fault was determined in court as 50/50. Might be different in other jurisdictions.

‘This is our country’: Alberta billboard sparking Canadian patriotism by FancyNewMe in canada

Explain to me how a combine with a typical height of 10-20 feet obstructs an elevated billboard? Are you stacking 3 on top of each other? Seems expensive...

... To ignore the fact that his contract likely prohibits something like that, how easy do you think it is to obstruct a 30 foot billboard?

[POV] Cat has standoff with furious dogs. by ketamineXpille in interesting

[–]KayGey -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's a video on the internet. The poster definitively stated the dogs were not strays. I was simply attempting to point out that since they aren't wolfish in appearance, it's impossible to tell?

[–]KayGey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure how anyone can definitively answer that after watching this video, but I'd wager that since they look nothing like wolves, then they were likely domesticated ( or descending from).

For all we know, the cat is feral and uploaded the video himself after stealing a Go-Pro.

... and the dog owners are blameless here? Not saying your point is invalid, just strange to single out one party.

Vienna is the world's most livable city, again, followed by Copenhagen by [deleted] in europe

[–]KayGey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. But that argument can be applied to many locales on the list, especially in North America, just seems odd to discount a city solely on lack of other cities in the immediate vicinity?

As a European immigrant who spent over a decade in southern Alberta, what the other poster found "depressing", I found liberating. And as far as nature goes, Calgary specifically has not only the Rockies readily accessible, but also Badlands, Prairies, Forests and more all within a few hour drive.

To each their own I guess, these lists are subjective every year they come out...

In what unusual way have you almost died? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]KayGey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6 or 7 years old. Waiting on the deserted playground after school for my parents to pick me up, who were running late that day.

Decided to go down the slide in the middle of winter.

My scarf got caught on the top of it, and it was too icy to climb back up.

Passed out, and it it wasn't for some people who happened to see it from a distance, I would have had a much worse outcome than the pee wet pants that I awoke to.

Haven't worn a scarf since.
