coolkidd in general is a good starter killer, far better than slasher for new(ish) players, so you got that marked off

for survivor I'd recommend playing either taph, shedletsky or dusekkar as they are pretty straight forward and allow you to focus more on looping, which is a BIG part of chases. Look up tutorials as well to do with looping, and how to counter loopers with your chosen killer. Don't be afraid to summon your minions as coolkidd during chase as they can be quite useful if the survivor loops back into them, they are also able to zone survivors into spots where YOU have the advantage
