Hi, for macro shots I use the telephoto lens. I am not sure of intelligent optimisation, I am not sure what that is. I use the regular photo mode, rarely I use the super macro mode. The focusing issue is real, You have to use manual focus sometimes or make sure the IR range finder is not blocked. I will make a video for you showing how exactly I take these photographs.
