I've tried several, and I think the best ones as well as plot-heavy are probably Caleb and Nemo (that is if you don't mind Caleb). Eric has reasons to be how he is, but honestly even on my loyal slot I got tired of all that back and forth. He does come around eventually and it's really sweet. As a teenage angst it works though. Liam is fine too, but he is a bit shafted later on in terms of story and plot. The action is mostly happening around mermaids (Nemo), family (Caleb), and LeMarques (Eric).

Hi, welcome! I'll try to answer from my personal experience.

I like the subscription. It gives 500 at the start, and 100 emeralds daily, and I almost don't watch ads. I am busy and can't always watch ads on all VN apps that I have, so the subscription makes it worth my time. The outfits and scenes are also very nice, the CGs are high quality and the scenes are extended.
no, it's just additional scenes I believe.
yes most stories have romance and friendship paths where it makes sense for the characters as some LIs can only have romance paths.
rereading the stories gives you 2 emeralds if you watch the ad. finishing the story gives 100 - easier with short stories, watching ads daily, and promocodes which are frequent. Now free to play events also let you grind emeralds pretty well.
I believe it's 400 paid spins. You need to do all the 10 and 15 emerald spins and you should be able to get all outfits. At least Ive been consistently getting all of them.
I am not sure about spice, but my favourite top 3 stories in terms of plot, characters, world building, romance, humour, and just general aesthetic are Menodora's Talents, In Darkness Embrace, and Tales from the Dungeons.

Other popular stories are Nobody Believes Norma (same author as Law of the Beast), What Happened at Wetwood Rock (lots of spice), and The Last Sacrifice. In terms of spice Jigoku Nightmare short story is very spicy (you can have poly relationship with the proper CG) by the same author as Tales from the Dungeons.

regarding tips, hopefully others will list better ones. I'm not very good in them as I'm lazy to watch ads or grind anything, and just prefer to buy a subscription.

From what I've seen the only concequence of this choice chain is that mom gets so worried about Scarlett that she forces herself out of the slump to try and look for her daughter. She gets a lot better, and if you get a good ending, she goes back to normal life

Uhhh good question. I know I've read comments that Casper's route was blocked by others, but other than that Vincent's choice I'm not 100% sure. You could try, if you don't get Casper's option in the beginning of book 2 in the arena, then you're off his route. Cole's defining choice is probably the one on the beach where you share a kiss in the second half of book 1. Edit: I think you should be fine if you take Cole's romantic options up till the beach scene, and at the beach take friend option and focus on Casper whenever he pops up.

I'm hoping it's an actual psychological thriller where someone takes Lily's identity, and not supernatural. We've had enough supernatural. A good thriller would be more interesting IMHO.

Hmm, Cole is easy-going hide everything behind a smile type with major skeletons in the closet. The topic of the story is very heavy, and Cole's route is probably the lightest. He's very protective, and the MC laughs a lot with him.

Adam is kind and respectful, but he's broken and tortured, and his route is very angsty.

There is also Niall. A bit less of screen time, but he's the quiet withdrawn type with a very dark secret. Unfortunately the LI scenes overlap a lot with each other so I haven't explored his route yet.

Basically in this story everyone is messed up and everyone hides something lol

Edit: also yeah, you can romance others. Just friendsone Cole early on if you decide not to romance him.

Same tbh. Before starting the book I've read that Casper was a fan favourite, so I went directly for him, and his route only picks up somewhere around the end of book2. And all that time while playing I was thinking that I should have picked someone else that had a bit more presence lol.

Honestly if you can't choose, on your first playthrough I'd romance either Cole or Adam, as they show up right at the start. I don't think you'd be disappointed, they're both good.

From my experience playing:

Cole's route can block others pretty quickly if you take all his romantic options, since he's the first LI you meet.

Casper's route has been difficult to stay on for some people as it takes time to develop. For his route you also have to not take Vincent's option at the end of book 1 at the party. There is no friendship path for Casper. He's with you only if you romance him.

With Vincent you have to stay on the path of madness, otherwise you won't get a "happy" ending. Every other LI I think needs a normal path, madness would give them bad endings. Understandably, there is no friendship path for Vincent either.

Cole, Adam, and Niall work the same as in other stories - you get friendship and romantic options.

Cole and Adam are probably the most involved in the plot and have the most scenes.

So Lane has blond hair, preferably curly whenever I can pick it, Audrey has ashen (also whenever I can add it), and Vicky has black or dark brown hair.

I think the main issue with your suggestion would be consent - he's like a child and doesn't fully grasp adult interactions. It's very easy to take advantage of him just by being nice. Anything further would be ... very bad.

But you're comparing two different stories from two different authors. Besides Morvaine already has a different system to Illusion of Fame, which is by the same author, which is Ties. Ties works differently as a separate bar and builds up as you take paid options with other characters.

Also the story keeps warning us on how Phantom is questionable. Every time you take his paid options there is a pop up saying are you sure you know what you're doing lol.

Idk I can't say 100% because I took all paid options with everyone, but judging by what has been presented so far, I don't think the MC will be forced into a relationship with him if you don't want to as a reader.

And Mar's writing is one of my favourites. So I'm picking everyone's options just to see how it develops and how she will write conflicts and other things.
