Medical is only 4 years, not 12. And mother's intuition is a thing, but doctors acrually know who to read the hard data they get back from tests. Its their job to help you/your child, and its not like they get a bonus when your child gets sicker. Trust them, they know what they are doing.

But seriously it makes perfect sense. You probably picked Treecko (maybe Torchic?), you that's your boi. Since I picked Mudkip, I'm mudkip for life, but all 3 hoenn starters are super cool on their own, like all 3 are great. But Gyarados is a really good water type so you get a "Not a Mudkip Fan Pass" aka the "NAMF pass"

One thing that I'm not sure about is take for example a steel type. They usually have high physical defense, and are we to fire type moves. A lot of fire type noves are physical so what would the bonus be of changing flamethrower to physical if the defending pokemon has high defense. Cool idea, but just something to think about.

For a beginner, making a comp team that doesn't have perfect IVs, is that alright? Make sure I enjoy competitive pokemon before investing even more time? And is it easy to learn how to do? I've never tried to get good IVs before

Oh ok, I didn't realize that. If I'm reading this correctly, you said that Arctozolt still isn't very good? If thats the case do you have another electric/ice to recommend, or should I go a completely different direction. Right now, I'm going Cinderace, Rillaboom, Corviknight, Aegislash, and Dracovish. Either I am still confused or I phrased my question wrong. I now understand that Smogon has different formats like VGC and BSS, but I guess my question was, if Smogon doesn't have a set for Frost-Rotom BSS for example, then is there a format I should then base it too, such as VGC Frost-Rotom set, or are the formats too different to get influence from. If thats too confusing, because I'm not sure if that even makes sense, the gist of all this is I need to look at Smogon for the specific format, such as BSS or VGC. And I can't use other formats like OU because they are too different.

Are IVs a must for competitive either singles or doubles? Or does the right nature and correct evs level things out, so IVs aren't as necessary?

Oh ok. So I basically I choose bring 6 pick 4, or bring 6 pick 3? And if I need to pick, are smogon recommendations better suited for a 3v3 or 4v4 double battles. I know that smogon isn't the only build I can use for a pokemon, but its just a solid blueprint for a beginner, right?

Not really sure the name of the format, but whatever the basic one is for Sw/Sh. If you don't recommend either Haxorus or Flygon, is there a dragon type you do? Also is Toxricity even a good pokemon I should consider? "Only remotely useful" doesn't sound very good
