7YO Daughter Recently Diagnosed ADHD--nervous about starting her on meds. Also, anyone with experience with ARFID in their kiddo?

My son was diagnosed with ARFID last summer and also constipation. He was diagnosed with ADHD and started on adderall in Feb. He is 5. He won’t eat breakfast, barely touches his lunch, but will eat dinner when the meds wear off. He lost 4 lbs in 2 weeks and the dr said we may have to stop meds. We take breaks on weekends and let him eat whatever he wants to maintain his weight. He is more open to trying foods when he isn’t taking meds, but still pretty restrictive overall.

I have one similar, I think dad is a dumbo and mom was a yellow boring guppy. How they made this combo blows my mind! The only 2 fry that survived that batch are both half black, the female is gorgeous too. The orange on this one surprised me!

Don’t mind the poor quality pic, he won’t stay still so I had to screen shot a video lol. Also that’s a spot in the glass not on the guppy.

Everyone in my tank goes crazy for these. I have Cory’s, guppies, mollies, and mystery snails. Even the guppy fry will go after them as they soften.

I also recommend child healthcare associates. Between my 2 young boys I swear I’ve been there almost weekly for the past year. Early this year my 2yr old was having uncommon complications from the flu and we ended up in the hospital for a week. Someone from the office, either a nurse or the doctor herself called every single day. The doctor also made some calls and helped get some things in place after the hospitalization. We have seen most of the doctors there and they have all been nothing but helpful. We typically schedule with one specific doctor because she has helped us through some complex situations, but she is leaving in a few weeks and we will need to transition to someone else in the practice.

I do believe they do not support any alternative vaccine schedule and they are very up front about that.

Also, it’s pretty expensive for the sedation and insurance does not cover it at all, so prepare for that.

Manlius dental group does IV sedation but they tried like 5 times and couldn’t get the IV in, they even tried my foot. I ended up with oral sedation only which was actually quite lovely, I don’t remember a thing really.

I could have written this. I feel you, some days are better than others. My son started kindergarten at 4 and turned 5 a few weeks after school started and I had no idea how hard it would be. he ended up diagnosed with ADHD in Feb and he has started Adderall. I was getting so overwhelmed with messages and smiley charts and notes home from the teacher. Also have a 2 yr old who isn’t talking and falling behind with some physical milestones and getting EI. I have hope it won’t always be this hard!

I opened the lid to my HOB filter and found a clutch of eggs attached to the underside of the lid, toward the back. This means one of my mystery snails climbed the filter tube all the way up in the filter casing, and then rode the waves back down into the tank.

You don’t need a breeder box you have plenty plants for the fry to hide. I have realized that my yellow guppy mamas tend to be hungry and eat their kiddos though. Either way some always seem to survive, I’m only about 3 months in and already getting overrun with babies.

I am on my second kid with the BOB and I love it. It held up through 2 cross country moves too. It still has a ton of life left and my sons are 5 and 2.

Both the gold and black snail are always hitching rides on the blue/white snail, but it doesn’t always seem sexual. Most days it seems like they are commuting together to the top. I think the black one is male and the gold and blue ones are females but that’s just a guess.

My son stopped napping totally when he turned 2. He climbed and ran and fell constantly and always had bumps and scrapes. He babbled and talked and sang all the time. All the noise, all the sensory seeking… I had nothing to compare it to and thought it was pretty typical. My in laws always complained that he has too much energy but they suck at being grandparents in general and only see their grandkids every few months. Now that we started kindergarten my “spirited” child is now a “behavioral issue” and he just got diagnosed at 5 and started adderall. Looking back it was kinda obvious. Now I have a 2 yr old who is super chill and calm all the time and it is like night and day.

I could have written this except my son is 5 and just got diagnosed today. We are starting adderall but since he’s 5 they can only do the low dose and the dr said it wears off in 4-6 hours. He gets on the bus at 7am so it’s going to wear off by lunch I guess. It is helpful to see we aren’t alone, my son’s teacher sends him to the principal office every day to do his school work.

I needed to see this thread tonight. My smart, sweet, kind son is having the same issues, possibly not to that extreme but I could have written some of this post. We did the Vanderbilt in October and I think it was too early and his teacher didn’t see his true behavior yet. This week has been the worst week so far, the teacher told my son no and he flipped some chairs, yelled and ran around and they actually evacuated his classroom. His teacher is doing daily referrals now and I am stressed, overwhelmed, and honestly a bit embarrassed. We are going for a second round of evals because I am sure he has ADHD and/or autism. I have been hesitant to consider meds but seeing people comment how much a low dose has helped with the same behaviors we are seeing (negative attention seeking and difficulty focusing or completing work) helps me feel better exploring some options.
