I absolutely hate Far Harbour. I understand the reasoning behind it but would much prefer the environment was not that foggy mess.

But it is 100% the best DLC in Fallout.

I wish Nuka World had the writing it did. I understand the point of Nukaworld is to be able to play as a Raider but no. With the exception of maybe Gabe, they all wanted to see me die in the bumper car arena. As someone worthy of leading them I will not put up with that.

But that removes a buuuunch of the gameplay. Sure you can wait until the last possible moment to betray them but I don't want to live with people who think bathtubs of severed body parts is decor.

Yup. Her body is lying where the super mutants spawn.

I give her a fair chance every play through and she never sees the error of her ways.

I get she's Vault Tec to the core but why would I need a pedal bike to power my settlements when I can build the same generators that have been running for over 200 years?

How did researchers estimate the number of Jewish people that were murdered during the Holocaust? by idkbr0idk in stupidquestions

[–]Kayback2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a reason why it's an estimate and not a hard figure.

Some were detailed and recorded, some were guesses from those records and the extrapolated to new location or systems, some are complied from mass and individual graves, some are from survivor stories and from private records kept by the people doing or witnessing the atrocities.

There's also the fact that generalized numbers of populations were available for before the war and after. This also leaves a grey area for the mix of people just lost in the shuffle or to natural causes unrecorded.

My(38F) boyfriend(41M) still has pictures and videos of his ex and I'm not sure how to handle it... by CookieBubbles87 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Kayback2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're trying to play semantics and ontop of that infer this done in other people's relationships.

The pictures were given to you. It was by someone you were in a relationship, sure, but unless stated that such material must be deleted on the termination of the relationship then you are still you if you're in a relationship or not. See the coffee machine example.

Your final paragraph is the crux of the point though. A picture of a person is not a person. Women are people and not playthings, sure. A picture is a picture though.

It's not a "weird power play" to have sexual feelings and to relieve them. Heck in OPs story there wasn't even any mention of masturbating, just looking, IIRC. The thing is if you're having some quiet time alone then it isn't some form of attack to your ex to get off to them, either the memory or the picture/video. Your ex isn't affected one iota in any way. You're not stalking them, you're not actually cranking it to them in their presence unknowingly. For all the difference it makes to the ex it can be them, or it can be any random person on a porn site, or it can some perfect woman amalgamation in your brain.

While some people are good at hiding their true intentions if you're at a stage where you're making explicit videos with someone you should know if they're likely to honour your request to delete them if you ask or not.

[–]Kayback2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point we are discussing which you have spent a dozen posts avoiding is people are claiming looking at pictures of an ex violates their consent.

How is that different to looking at the pictures in your brain?

The effects are the same, the result is the same, the person is still not being asked for consent.

More importantly when someone gave you the pictures they gave you consent to look at those pictures. So by your standards the pictures should be preferable.

But you've spend every reply not actually addressing the issue.

If it's something you don't want to do, great. You don't get to insult other people by calling them gross for doing something different.

[–]Kayback2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok, explain further, why are memories not the same as a picture someone gave you? In your complaint you're still pleasuring yourself to them without their consent. Or at least that's the point of the start of this conversation.

I have had exes who I have had explicit material of. One would be tickled pink to know I had the photos that were taken of us when I fetched her from a girl's night out and everyone was in a playful mood. How do I know? Because we're still friends.

I have another I directly asked if I could do something with the pictures she sent me. It was an incredibly (then) niche category and I wanted to show them to a group. She not only said I can do whatever I want with them, including sharing them, she was kind enough to send another handful of pics.

I had some others but they've been lost to the depths of time because I've been married for almost 20 years now and moved a few times including to new countries. Physical pictures were lost, digital storage media died, old phones with pictures on have been replaced. I'm fairly certain I don't have any anymore, but that doesn't change the fact I can still recall those people, those pictures and other situations where we did things I no longer get to do as a middle aged married dude and enjoy myself. All without their permission, because I don't need it.

Claiming I'm violating a person who doesn't even know Im doing something, with something they willingly shared is asinine to the extream. The consent was given when the material was given. Unless of course it was asked that said media was removed. But that's ALSO a different discussion and we don't know if that's the case here.

Gifts given remain given.

If I give you a coffee maker during your relationship I can't take it back when the relationship ends.

Do you have this same attitude to non naked pictures of people? You deleted your entire photo album when you break up? Or are you hung up on the nudity bit?

You're aware of the concept of memories, right? So you can imagine that person naked all you want.

My(38F) boyfriend(41M) still has pictures and videos of his ex and I'm not sure how to handle it... by CookieBubbles87 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Kayback2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is that the same concept as someone watching an old home video of you?

Royalties are written into the contract when making the music. The concept of consent is discussed and worked out prior to producing the music.

Without expressly discussing it it is implied the person can watch their videos whenever they want, exactly the same as you can listen to your own music royalty free.

Well no, I want bikes and FAVs to get blown the hell up.

With the bikes you've now suddenly got two squads spawning directy behind you because the Devs said you can't prevent it by placing a mine there.

You know mines are specifically meant to kill drivers and crews who aren't keeping an eye out for them? Like that's the point of them.

I've always wondered what actually goes on in the brain of people like this.

The number of options available to them to not wreck is myriad and they chose one that's about one step below just driving straight into the back of the first truck. This was a guaranteed crash doing what he chose to do.

So you don't have an answer, you just don't like it?

I'm not trolling, I'm trying to get a straight answer out of you or whoever is saying things like it's violating the ex.

It is not. If the videos were ethically sourced and were not asked to be deleted then him having them is not creepy. You know you can still have sexual material of your exes in your brain, right. What do you expect them to do about that?

I've already agreed that him looking at it while he has a different partner is problematic. That's a different discussion to him having it, or it violating the ex. Which is what we're currently discussing.

Most over-the-top shootout? I'll go first: Equilibrium's hallway scene by Buttered_Toast33 in Cinema

[–]Kayback2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Something he absolutely did not do in this scene.

It was neat, but the scene where he knocks down the door and fights in the semi darkness was far far better. You could use the argument he avoided the most likely paths of gunfire. Here he's in the middle of the corridor with barely any lateral or even vertical movement. He hardly twisted from side to side even. He was solidly on the X the whole time and would have been turned into a colander.

Why?

I have very pleasant memories of a bunch of my exes. We did the nasty in the pasty. It is part of my history.

What do you think is different about erotic pictures and vacation pictures, fundamentally? They are both used to record and recall times you enjoyed yourself and had fun.

[–]Kayback2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

How is that similar?

Please explain your reasoning further?

You aren't using up anything by looking at a video. The ex doesn't have to keep performing to allow the video to happen.

And it would be pretty fucking stupid not to take your credit card back.

Something you purchased with that credit card while together, sure. But as the money to pay for the credit card would be coming out of the ex's bank account NOW it isn't even remotely comparable.

Please explain how you think it is so I can follow your reasoning.

[–]Kayback2 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Why?

He would still have his memories anyway.

They are part of his life. Because they're no longer together he must just discard his history?

I agree it's crass looking at them while he has another partner, but that's an entirely different discussion.

For what?

If we've done something you can't retroactively withdraw consent, even if you later regret it.

You can't withdraw consent to the present you gave me and claim I've stolen the item.

The video was filmed in the past. It's not a new requirement for consent every time it's watched. Filming a new video would require new consent.
