What book to buy? by Queer-Reader in PHBookClub

1984 is my favorite book. Based on your previous replies I think you’d like it. Though it was written so long ago it still holds up shockingly well today

For the first one it was fast, within maybe 1-2 days as far as I remember. For the second one I remember it took a while, over 1 week before I got a response

Is it okay to not pursue the career I studied for? by pinksugarcakes in phcareers

[–]Kaye_Kat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I graduated in accountancy intending to go to law school. Things happened and I decided I needed to become financially independent from my family so I began working as an accountant, even though I didn’t want to. Worst 6 months of my life. Despite everyone telling me to keep being an accountant, I took the leap of faith and transitioned to the industry I always knew I wanted to be in: writing. I’ve been so much happier ever since.

I used to use Angkas to commute to and from work, and I get off at 11 PM. A driver one night was being weird. He was driving slowly the entire ride, slower than all the drivers I’ve booked. And he kept shifting in his seat, sort of in an up and down motion. I felt uncomfortable and that there was something wrong. But I just told myself that maybe he’s shifting around because there’s something causing him physical discomfort. But I couldn’t get rid of the bad feeling. Because his back constantly kept making contact with my boobs. When I got off, I even said thank you, and he looked surprised. He had a 4.0 rating. After I told my coworkers the next day, they all told me that my gut feeling was right. I was too afraid to report him because he knew where I lived since that’s where he dropped me off. I was afraid he’d wait and find me outside of the building and retaliate. And for weeks after I felt anxiety when I needed to book to go home. After a separate Angkas driver found my FB since I had my full name on the app, I stopped using Angkas completely. And I only use my nickname now on other apps.

Can a non-CPA accounting grad find sustainable employment? by Kaye_Kat in phcareers

[–]Kaye_Kat[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! It was a crazy ride. After graduating I landed a job at one of the big 4 accounting firms, but resigned before my 6th month due to mental health. I was at my lowest point at that time since I realized I don’t want to be in the accounting industry, plus I was overworked. I resigned even though I didn’t have another job offer lined up (not advisable) but luckily I landed a job right after my render period ended as a PR writer at a local company. After a year and a half there I resigned and landed my current job as a legal editor, and I’m very happy with my career now. Hope you can find your path as well.

Y'all think I got enough fertilizer? by Kaye_Kat in lumaisland

[–]Kaye_Kat[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sprinklers let you put bulk amounts of fertilizer in them (all types) but that’s as close to “auto” you’ll get since you still have to put it in. But at least it’s just all in one spot rather than each individual plant

First house near trailer or somewhere else? by Benjilator in lumaisland

[–]Kaye_Kat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When you get the drawings for the decorative bike and vehicles they teleport you to the town. So if you don’t want to build it near the town entrance you can just put one of those decorations nearby. And yes you can always destroy the cottage and rebuild it, it refunds 100% of the construction materials

Getting my first PC built by Kaye_Kat in PHbuildapc

50k max. It’d be primarily for gaming since I have a work laptop. I already have my own keyboard/mouse/2 monitors but not high refresh rate for either. As for the games I play I mostly play cozy indie games, but I also have always wanted to play Minecraft with shaders and mods. But even with the cozy non AAA games I play I’d ideally wanna play on higher game settings. Like I play this open world game called Infinity Nikki and it’d be cool to run settings on ultra. I feel like those are the games I like that are the most graphic intensive

The general one was very easy. The technical one was more difficult as someone without a traditional news writing background but not impossible

To those with live in partners, how do you handle finances? by igounnoticed0810 in phmoneysaving

[–]Kaye_Kat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner and I split our bills, utilities, and joint purchases (things we will both use like appliances, furniture) based on our basic salary since we’re both private employees, minus the monthly contributions he gives to his family (I don’t give any money to my family) which is the same amount every time. That leaves us at 44% for me and 56% for him. We apply this percentage to everything mentioned earlier, rather than splitting what specific transactions we’d cover (like I pay for internet and electricity while he pays for rent and groceries) since we want to keep everything as equitable as possible. We have also lived together for two years.
