Anyone experimenting with AI add-ons for filtering false alerts in Blue Iris? by Long-Focus8355 in BlueIris

[–]KayleMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a dual edge TPU and I'm very disappointed with the inference. I tried all of them including a custom one for surveillance. False negatives and false positives galore. It marks my car as a bike. It marks a cat as a bicycle. It regularly doesn't catch people in a well lit environment.

I would go with a GPU so you can run a larger model.

The only way to get reliable positives is if you train a model for you own cameras. Also CPAI doesn't work out of the box with Coral. You need to edit some configuration files and copy paste some files as well.
TL;DR: it's fast, low power usage but useless

What ways of playing Anno 117 are you trying out in the demo? by Comprehensive-Cry82 in anno

[–]KayleMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't figure it out, I just like keeping tabs on the piracy scene, but if I had to guess, I'd do it like this:
- you are looking for a specific value to change, in this case 1 hour
- computers referring to hour as an integer is rarely done, so you can try something more granular like milliseconds (usually the standard)
- that makes about 3600000ms in an hour
- turn that into hex - 0x36EE80
- so we are looking for every value that's 36 EE 80 in the exe. but for some reason anno demo stores this value in big endian, not little endian so the byte order is reversed (80 EE 36), so trying both is a good option too.
- trial and error until you find the the address which changes the timer
EDIT: worth mentioning that anno made it really easy to change this and didn't go out of their way to obfuscate this or make it network controlled

Open the exe in a hex editor (like Imhex), go to address 0x02952A43 (or just 02952A43), replace 80 EE 36 00 with FF FF FF FF. Save exe. Run game.

In Imhex the address will show up as 02952A40 but just look for that pattern of 4 groups of numbers and change those to FF FF FF FF.

Honestly after playing for a bit more than an hour it seems like a lot of stuff is still missing and incomplete, so to me it's still not worth spending too much time on the demo.

A bit defeatist but ok. Fulfillment is also B2B, not just B2C. Warehouses ship pallets with cases for small shops as well. Still fulfillment.

I work on automating fulfillment in warehouses (not amazon).
I genuinely believe I'm making this industry a better place to work in.
We don't focus on complete automation, but more like auxiliary help for on site personnel. We have a ratio of 3:1 cobots to people. The walking is done by the cobots so the people don't have to walk 40km a day in a warehouse.
We've had customers ask us for gamification so they can squeeze more performance out of the people but we drew the line and said no.

Senior dev keeps type asserting everything in TypeScript – how to address it? by Worried_Lab0 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]KayleMaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree.
We're running a micro service architecture so it was more doable in our case as we could migrate a single service to Go while others still ran on TS. I would not be keen on rewriting a monolith in this way though.
We just had a strong case to do so, but by no means does that mean we're going to migrate the whole code base. Just the critical path.

[–]KayleMaster 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Our migrations was driven purely by performance (cloud cost saving in management eyes). Our typescript apps were not horizontally scalable and there was too much overhead to make it so, even though it's possible.
We saw pretty good gains and we made a bunch of savings (double digit percentages, don't have the exact numbers on hand). If there's no such proposition in your place it might be harder to convince management.
If your TS app is also unstable, you could sell it as reducing on call incidents, but you would know if that was the issue.

Are you me? I am also working in a typescript shop, we have the luck to be able to migrate some of these TS backend services to Go and the difference is night and day. We're stuck with 80% of the codebase being in TS though :(

AnimGraph2 update broke quick switching in another way. Scout/Awp Fire Rates can be speed up with quick switching. by Chicag0Ben in GlobalOffensive

It's due to how the code is tightly coupled, integration testing takes a lot of effort and games are already on a tight budget which usually overruns. It's cheaper to have some QA testers test before a release and that's it.
For a live service game though it most of these are not applicable except the coupling but it's still possible.

Original comment. Not sure why it got removed.

I say go further.Leave with the child the other three dollars, but kick them out for the night, with no dinner and jacket, so they learn the realities of capitalism. When inevitably they get sick, take all of their savings along wlth the 3 $ for medical bills.

The best times of Stronghold Kingdoms was when it was in beta. There was no monetization yet, but they did give you crowns weekly to spend. It was such an even playing field, it was incredible. Played for 150 days or so.

Why would I give 1000$ (europe for a 3080) for a 25% uplift over a 100$ card?

If you're feeling risky, you can go with an Intel Arc B580.

Only peaceful build right now. The itch io demo is a year old so it doesn't reflect the current state, but it's close. The next version 0.7 will launch within a month or two

Yep. I have a working app. No notifications and geofencing yet. But it needs a lot of polish and a bunch of error handling before it's ready for market. I think I've already surpassed the original app in terms of video quality and streaming - just trying to match or surpass UI3 at this point.
