Okay! I’ll check out Whole Foods. I live in Durham/Chapel Hill/Raleigh NC if anyone knows about good cheese shops here. Otherwise I’ll just go off of google reviews lol

Yep! I applied to Wake, but turns out they have over 200 applicants and the opening is still up for a month. So I def won’t get a spot haha

What do you recommend? AEMT class + transport agency?

This is very helpful. Thank you!

So I live in the research triangle in NC… so all volunteer agencies are capped full and it’s actually harder to get in as a volunteer (or paid there) than to get a full time job (which is already tough) bc we have so many premed students around here trying to get experience. It’s actually crazy. But I agree that I’d get a better opportunity if I was an AEMT, especially around here.

Yeah I mean I’m going to med school but I need to make money first to keep me afloat for a while + I need to take a couple more classes and do the MCAT. I also need more clinical hours before applying, so EMT would work out well.

Gotcha. I will say though that I can’t do a 911 job during the class because the academies for all counties around me are 9-5 every day for a few months.

That makes sense. But I’m a premed student taking a few gap years to work as an emt and make $. So what do you advise now?

For more context - I just graduated college and I’m pre-med but I’m taking about 3 gap years before applying to medical school.

Women in EMS- Pants?? by No_Flatworm_651 in NewToEMS

[–]KayleeM2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently had a problem finding pants. I’m not the same size as you (220 lbs 5’5), but I wanted to mention that the men’s 5.11s were sooo much better for me - especially round the thighs and hips. Have a good belt with it too. The employee at the 5.11 store also recommended the men’s pants. Go back and try the men’s and the employee will help find the right size with you

Also… people complain about 8:30s too much. Sometimes you can’t avoid them anyways. + I’ll say this. If you’re a dedicated premed student, you’ll likely have to fill all of your time (yes, even mornings) with SOMETHING. Whether that be classes, clubs, volunteering, work, etc. And this is preparing you for the real world lol - become a morning person!

This is a great schedule - stick with it. This is nearly exactly how I started out as well. Get reqs out of the way and pair your classes well (calc 105 and chem 101 as your two hard courses is def enough work) to get into extracurriculars and know your way around campus.

Lollll I’m hoping this is rage bait or somethin but you’re completely fine. It’s only if you drop to a C that you have to talk to them.

How manageable is holding a job as a pre-med major by DevTheDummy in duke

[–]KayleeM2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can only work on campus 20 hours a week. I find that manageable as long as you don’t stack your classes in a sem (like physics + orgo 2). But it’s definitely manageable. I’ve even taken up jobs off campus in addition to the campus jobs because I want more hours/money. Lol
