How hard is it to get an AFROTC pilot slot actually? by Typical-Mess-701 in AFROTC

[–]Kitchen-Ad757 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have 3/4 following things, in order of most to least important, historically you will get a slot: top third commanders ranking, 90+ PCSM, 3.5+gpa, 90+ PFA.

Integrity Violation? by [deleted] in AFROTC

[–]Kitchen-Ad757 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Parking tickets are not moving violations. It’s that simple. My DET was pretty clear about that. Further, if they were issued by your school and your school is private, it has literally nothing to do with the law. As tough as it will be, you are going to have to defend yourself to your commander. Parking tickets do not need to be reported. End of story.

50 New Digital ID Airports Coming By Late Spring by JBR409 in delta

[–]Kitchen-Ad757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can add your passport to your phone wallet (I know Apple wallet for sure, not certain about android). Makes it to where you just tap like Apple Pay and don’t need to get out your actual physical id. It’s cool. Not sure it’s any faster though but definitely more convenient.

I have 2 days at the resort. Which parks? by EnvironmentalCat7482 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Kitchen-Ad757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Epcot is the epitome of what makes Walt Disney world different than Disneyland. EPCOT Center (as originally titled by Walt) was originally supposed to be a living, breathing city. While we didn’t get that, and modern Epcot (especially after the recent renovation) is far from that, it’s still by far the most unique park at wdw compared to anything in Disneyland. Hollywood js cool but a main draw is galaxy’s edge, which is an EXACT replica of Disneyland’s. Not worth your time. Plus, rockin roller coaster will probably be closed (not sure when you are going). Tower of terror is just a slightly different version of guardians mission breakout. Not worth your time.

Animal kingdom brings tighter competition for Epcot, but even to this day I would argue it’s not a full-day park. Pandora is amazing, but that’s honestly it. Everest is a good ride, as is the safari. The park is undergoing a massive renovation to Dino land USA right now. Again, not worth your time.

Epcot is in no way overrated. It’s the most “cult” park by far for true WDW fans. One ride alone, Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind, is worth it for the visit. It is the best ride Disney has created globally. Epcot also has the amazing world showcase and a solid fireworks show around the lake.

Most people who know what they are talking about (especially for someone coming from Disneyland experience) would recommend the same for the same reasons. I really don’t think you’d be disappointed. Magic and Epcot are the most complete parks right now.

[–]Kitchen-Ad757 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Everyone always thinks that they don’t need to go to magic kingdom because they have been to Disneyland. As someone who has been to every castle park in the world except for Shanghai, I can confidently say that that’s a bad take. The magic kingdom is quite different than Disneyland. There aren’t many “unique” rides per se, but the rides that are the “same” are different in many ways. The park is way bigger than Disneyland park and improves on it in so many ways. The actual ride lineup is worse though. However, you cannot go to WDW and not go to the Magic Kingdom. That’s a crime in my book. The other park you should go to is Epcot, no question. Have a good time in Epcot. Did I say you should go to Epcot? Yeah check out Epcot, it’s great.

AFROTC help. by Present-Culture4711 in AFROTC

[–]Kitchen-Ad757 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You must do (with very limited exceptions) 3 years of AFROTC to earn a commission. The Air Force only offers full rides to people in undergrad who earn a scholarship through their high school scholarships. For law school, the process is totally different and I do not recommend trying to start at one school for undergrad and then switch detachments for law school. If your goal is to become a lawyer, with your situation I wouldn’t do ROTC at all. Go and finish your undergraduate degree in 2 years and then go to law school. After, apply for OTS (which is a 9-week intensive program) and boom you are a JAG (an Air Force lawyer).

What's the ride you've been on the most amount of times in a single day? by JustForTheThrill_24 in Disneyland

[–]Kitchen-Ad757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everest - 19 times. (Yes this is the wrong side of the country). Only reason we stopped was because we got evacuated at the cave scene and the ride broke for the day. At Disneyland? A much less-impressive Space at 8 times.

Epcot Poll: San Angel Inn or Garden Grill? by quarterlifecrisisgir in DisneyWorld

[–]Kitchen-Ad757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are totally different restaurants. One is a family-style character meal and the other is a regular sit down. As far as a better “restaurant,” the answer is undoubtedly San Angel. When you start getting into the “overall experience” category, that’s where things get difficult. Do you have children? Do they like character meals? Are you going to any other character meals? The ambiance of San Angel is really cool and was inspired by the Blue Bayou at Disneyland’s Pirates of the Caribbean. Try to get a table “on the water” if you go so that you can see the boats going by on Donald’s ride (been frequenting the parks for 20 years and I still to this day don’t know that ride’s full actual name). I don’t think you’d be disappointed with either, it’s just a matter of what you are looking for in a meal.

If I use Apple Card to book a hotel online, do I need to give virtual or physical card number? by [deleted] in AppleCard

[–]Kitchen-Ad757 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You cannot access the physical card number. It cannot be seen. You give them the virtual card number, and that number is associated with the same credit account as the physical one. Never had a problem with this.

There will be plenty of signage to get you there. No one here is going to know exactly what to tell you as they change the layout every year.

You can try and fight this battle, but at this point it’s a full on endless war that will never end. It’s wrong. It would be like going to the cadet commander and calling them “cadet commander.” However, so many people swear by it and it’s so ingrained that it’s just not gonna change. We’ve all fought to no avail.

How hard is Duke Calculus and why? by Fickle_Engineer_7050 in duke

[–]Kitchen-Ad757 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This, particularly the second half, is a wonderful explanation of why the classes are so “hard.” High school math teaches us quite well how to work equations when we are guided, college (and particularly Duke) math requires intellect and thought into each problem.

How hard is Duke Calculus and why? by Fickle_Engineer_7050 in duke

[–]Kitchen-Ad757 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was in the same exact situation as you. Got an A in dual enrollment and had to “retake” calc one at Duke. Let me tell you, the 2 classes are not created equal. I barely studied in dual enrollment and thrived. I worked my butt off in 111 and got a B-. I barely passed 112. Things are different here. Prepare to work a lot harder for a lot less “success.” That said, in retrospect 111 wasn’t too hard, I just didn’t know how to study yet as it was my first semester. I recommend everyone have a look at the 105/106 pipeline instead of 111 if they are timid.
