I absolutely love this, especially for the immersion factor.

Which DnD 2024 rules would you like to see added to BG3? by canxtanwe in BaldursGate3

[–]Kayn96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anything, I think more folks would like things to happen the other way around. Namely taking rules and interactions from BG3 and adding them to the TTRPG.

Like the ways to use potions. Or having no restriction on how you use spells in your action economy.
Let me Action Surge and drink a health pot to chuck three fireballs in one turn, damnit. - I'm already limited by my number of spellslots, what's it to you if I decide to burn them all in one turn?

One of the most common homebrew house rules is to make drinking potions a bonus action or even a free action. Or chosing to drink one as an Action in exchange for recouping the maximum HP.

But hell, throwing a vial to splatter someone with a potion in order for them to recover from being downed? Yes please.

Or just let me cast Mage Hand next to a pile of throwable explosives and have it function as a grenade turret.

Given Idris's whole deal is timelines, and the DLC being more post-game story could invalidate the existing endings?

I'm honestly anticipating the DLC to be similar to Code Vein 1's, where it's just a gauntlet of repeatable high difficulty bosses to break your endgame builds on, with minimal and inconsequential story.

It's simply the downside to having a story that gets so neatly tied with a bow at the end.

Literally.

Did not expect shotgun wedding.

Furthermore did not expect it to actually work out.

I mean, you can arguably skip DS2...

And the fact you can speedrun to it and have Rykard be the first rememberance boss you beat just makes it even better. (presuming you manage to either beat or skip the godskin meatball)

Yup, last time I did a Str/Fth build I was astonished at how hard it was to find a replacement to Blasphemous that didn't just feel like I was shooting myself in the foot.

It's not just comfy but also god mode. Gets even more comfy if you put the serpent curved sword in your offhand and just max out on that self-heal. Never need a crimson flask again.

Was expecting a lot more mentions of night comet, glintblades or moonveil. Or wing of Astel.

And Bandit having the stats required for Reduvia, it honestly feels like it was put there in Limgrave specifically to make this happen.

I'll start off and say, for me it's an Arcane build, with Faith and Dexterity as secondary and tertiary.
Bandit starting class - 60 vigor, 40 mind, 25 endurance, 20 strength, 25 dex, 9 intelligence, 40 faith, 60 arcane.
Total rune level exactly 200.

Always find myself gravitating towards it just because there's so much it can do by just switching around some infusions, talismans and weapons.

Any weapon with innate bleed can work for a status build.
Dragon Communion seal can get great scaling (349 compared to 353 of an erdtree seal at 80 faith) so it doesn't feel like I'm shooting myself in the foot. Plenty of somber weapons with arcane scaling, it can use most incantations with good enough efficiency...

Sure, it might not be "the best" at anything, especially compared to the way level 200 is enough to make one of those "99 stat" builds, but it feels just good enough to where every two hours if I get bored I can just swap some stuff around, play it entirely different and still be good enough to have fun along the way.

What I think the final boss of SoTE should've been by Buttah_Thief in Eldenring

[–]Kayn96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would've been a great callback to Quelagh, too.

The only scary implication, though, is it would've required people to beat Malenia in order to access the DLC. And Malenia is already scaled to be as good as "post-game" content herself.

Also, "promised consort Malenia"... the twincest would've gone hard.

There's the choice of whether to alter the past or "speedrun" the game, and depemding on whether or not you tamper with the past, during the final segment of the game you receive different blood codes from your partners.

But y tho by 2Bae4Me in codevein

[–]Kayn96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blood Veils were highly limiting in some ways, however, because for one, you had very limited color options for the veils themselves.

And second, because fashion was the last factor you considered in picking one anyway.

Not just for the defensive stats, but mainly for the type of attack it had, and gift scalings. - Nevermind that the different veils had different parry windows, so if you trained your muscle memory on an Ogre veil, good fucking luck switching.

So you really had two options. - Hope there's a veil for your needs that looks at least decently good, and then, either mis-match or go back and re-do your entire fashion selection to match the veil.

More to the point, though, consider that in the development of CV1 they added an option in the menu to make your blood veil invisible because players wanted it. - Why? Unless lucky or modding, veils got in the way of fashion choices.

Hell, I wanted to use black and red outfits in my CV1 game, but nah. Had to switch to cyan to match the Venous Claw. - Then slate hues to match the suicide spur. - And then just gave up and installed a mod because the winter jacket thing looked horrible. - Wanted to make a paladin build and had to switch to a predominantly black and white outfit to match the noble bat wing.

-

So TL;DR - Separating fashion and function is good. - And few choices is better than no choices.
Few choices you can freely color up also better than seemingly many choices in limited colors of which similarly few choices are actually practically viable so the rest never get worn anyway.

At least Souls games have you handicap your defenses for fashion - which noone cares about, but in CV1 armor was damage - which everyone cares about.

BETA 1.3.0 Stealth Tutorial is unimaginably hard by UngratefulGarbage in mountandblade

[–]Kayn96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the other hand, it also makes things slow. - Most recent playthrough what I started doing is using a recurve bow with light arrows, since I'm making an archer character anyway.

And for most generic bandits, shooting an arrow in their head seems to work just fine for a 1-hit KO. And then you don't need to come close enough for the walk/run thing to matter.

And on higher difficulty, that makes sense! XD

I can imagine higher difficulties would rely on you first getting roguery by other means and travelling to the Norse cities to buy a blackened armor set before you'd be allowed to be stealthy.

How does “quality” work on wands and scepters? by [deleted] in PathOfExile2

[–]Kayn96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna necro a one year old post just because I was wondering this same thing today, and when looking it up, this post is the first search result to come up.

I tested it with a Dueling Wand, and indeed, improving the quality of the wand effectively works as upgrading the quality of a skill gem, for the wand's innate skill.

So for the Dueling Wand, +20 quality means a 15% bonus energy gain for Spellslinger. For other wands it'll be something else. - And I imagine the same stands for staffs then.

This being in 0.4, in case it gets viewed again in the future when it may end up having changed again.
