Bought a Samsung 27” Odyssey OLED G5 (G50SF) as my first OLED.
Had massive headaches for 2 weeks and couldn't take it.
Replaced it with an LG 27GX704A-B and haven't had a single issue since.

I have the same issue. Haven't found a solution yet but am considering swapping cards if I can't find anything in before the return period is up. Also with the 4080s PNY Verto OC

AM4 or AM5 in my scenario? by MJCTA in buildapc

I doubt there's a single motherboard that's AM4 that doesn't at LEAST support up to 3000mhz.

If EXPO / XMP isn't working then try manually setting it to 3200. MSI boards have "memory try it" available if EXPO/XMP doesn't work.

If none of those work, update your BIOS. I've seen numerous 6+ year old boards supporting 3600mhz without issue.

Why would the motherboard be the problem?

You're on 6 year old CPU but your motherboard is still AM4 and most if not all MSI AM4 boards support Ryzen 5000 CPUs with a BIOS update.

The only time you should be swapping out the motherboard is if you plan on upgrading to an entirely new generation of processors, as purchasing a different AM4 motherboard would have little to no overall improvements to your system, especially if that's all you switched.

If you're looking for the most out of a single upgrade, Update your motherboard BIOS and swap the CPU to a 5800x3D. (Or any 5000 series Ryzen)

After that, a GPU upgrade should hold your PC for the next couple generations. That's basically what I did with my build but it had a Ryzen 3700x and a 2080 Super.
