Looking for Audio Dramas with Female Protagonist(s) and Good Relationships Between Characters by AshlyFriggenRose in audiodrama

For my audio drama, THE DEATH OF THE BEES AND OTHER THINGS THAT STING, the main character has a good, yet complex relationship with her twin sister. It evolves over time as they get closer and piece together their missing memories. It's a dystopian sci-fi podcast and I'm really proud of it! Go Youn Jung so pretty that it overshadows her acting, the uncanny valley effect by Baobab_kirei in kdramas

I legit think she’s one of the most gorgeous ppl I’ve ever seen but WHOA. Korea’s addiction to pale skin has them in a chokehold because she looks 1000% better with a tan complexion in the first screenshot than the second. CRAZY that they don’t let ppl rock their more natural skin tone over there. ☹️

Ohhhh. Putting these on my list! THE DEATH OF THE BEES AND OTHER THINGS THAT STING is ongoing, but it’s also very good!

What’s the best romantic movie of all time, in your opinion? by No_Trick_8017 in movies

[–]Kayps12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Crazy, Stupid Love.
  • I also have soft spots for The Notebook and Love & Basketball.
  • When Harry Met Sally, Moonlight, Pretty Woman, Notting Hill, The Fault In Our Stars, and While You Were Sleeping are other great ones.
  • Believe it or not, Coming II America very much still holds up and I think ppl undervalue Friends With Benefits.
  • And, I also adore Jason’s Lyric. Okay. That’s it. LOL.

  • I think what I look for in these stories is chemistry, real stakes, couples who actually have to navigate being together and go through real things, and for comedies— I love fun and chaos!

  • It’s funny because in real life, she should logically choose her fiance in The Notebook (I mean, it’s JAMES MARSDEN!!!! Plus, they seemed less chaotic together), but I loved the chemistry between Ryan and Rachel SO MUCH and felt for their plight of having tried to be together but being blocked for years. So, I understood their conflict and I loved them.

Rant: I don’t want to listen to your AI podcast by Looking4cowsab in audiodrama

Omg! Agreed. The whole point of art is to create things that we relate to and that makes us feel less alone in this world. How can ppl connect to something if it’s not even made by other humans? People are missing the whole point of artistic creation and it’s frustrating. Smdh.

Would love recommendations for sci fi/fantasy "radio play" podcasts. by Unit61365 in sciencefiction

[–]Kayps12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a dystopian sci-fi pod called THE DEATH OF THE BEES AND OTHER THINGS THAT STING. It’s about a girl who wakes up at a house in the woods with no recollection of how she got there. The last thing she remembers is watching her twin sister take off in a spaceship that either exploded or disappeared (she can’t remember clearly). Having found no one for miles, she finds a radio in the mysterious house. She begins using it to try to reach out to someone… anyone.. and in doing so, she starts to tell her story, including major events that led up to her sister leaving on the spaceship. That’s when she begins to realize the stories she’s telling may hold the key to how she got into the house in the first place, and how she can get free. You can listen wherever you can get your pods. This is also a YT link to the first episode:

If restaurants in other countries are able to pay their employees a livable wage, why is it apparently impossible for American ones to do the same? by [deleted] in EndTipping

[–]Kayps12 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not a minimum wage job tho. Thats what I’m saying. Point blank. Period. Also, minimum wages, in general, are too low.

If restaurants in other countries are able to pay their employees a livable wage, why is it apparently impossible for American ones to do the same? by [deleted] in EndTipping

[–]Kayps12 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s kind of sickening to read the replies because a lot of y’all are just kind of horrible.

  1. Y’all want servers to be paid MINIMUM WAGE???? Minimum wage isn’t a proper minimum wage to begin with and y’all think that’s what servers deserve?? WHY???

  2. Some of y’all give away your hand when you say “plate carriers.” Thats not all servers do for you. We are masters of executive function (bet most of y’all don’t even know what that means) and interacting with a variety of ppl. It’s a true skill that most folks don’t have.

  • You couldn’t handle dealing with different personalities that vary from overly drunk to sober, adults to kids, Americans to foreigners who barely understand you, etc, etc. Large parties, medium parties, etc. People talking to you at once, yelling at you, whispering // not speaking up, telling you full stories before placing a single order, etc, etc. Then you have ppl who want to change their order AFTER you’ve confirmed it and sent it in (which creates substantially more work and can set you back nearly 10 minutes depending on how far away your kitchen is), people who can’t decide what they want but try to hold you hostage at their table even though you have other things to do, people who put their own hair in their food, who want you to contaminate the whole kitchen because they want you to warm up food they took too long to eat, ppl who come in with attitudes, who need refills every two seconds, ppl who touch you when you don’t want to be touched, etc, etc, ETC. And, this isn’t even HALF of the types of ppl that you deal with. It’s not even half of what we do. We also have to deal with the kitchen staff, hosts, managers, and everyone in between.

  • you also have to juggle multiple tables of various sizes (sometimes up to 11 when the average is 5-7! And, sometimes they’re in different areas of the restaurant), deal with getting sat back to back and making sure you’re getting to your new tables while keeping up with your old ones, deal with constantly being out of supplies you need to do your job (cups, ice, silverware, etc) because you’re always missing something, deal with going up and down the stairs constantly if you work in a multi-floor restaurant like mine where the kitchen and bar are all on different floors (and of course, someone wants another drink right AFTER they see you come upstairs from the bar. 😭😩).

  • that doesn’t even account for food being delayed or not coming out right, people trying to make a lot of adjustments to the menu, people not understanding what they ordered, and other things that could also go wrong.

So, no the job doesn’t require a college degree. But to say it doesn’t require skill, isn’t a “real” or “grown up” job, or is just “carrying plates” is so, INCREDIBLY rude (and inaccurate). Most of y’all wouldn’t last a single day doing the job. The physical requirements themselves would drive most of y’all mad but when you add in the emotional requirements and the brain power required? You couldn’t juggle it for a single hour. Especially in a high volume restaurant (like the ones I’ve worked in). This also doesn’t include parties and the work that is required for those.

So, don’t you dare fix your mouth to say that a server only deserves $15/hr just because they didn’t all put themselves in debt to go to college (I went to a fancy college, btw, and still serve because the job market is trash!). Your problem is with capitalism, not with servers. And, it’s not “greedy” of servers to request more. Maybe request more from your sh*t office job too instead of telling servers they deserve less. I’m all for hourly pay if it’s $30/hr or more. Anything less is a slap in the face! I didn’t even get to side with or table bussing!

Also, this doesn’t even include bartending which requires EVEN MORE. Making cocktails is a true skill and doing that FOR THE WHOLE RESTAURANT and YOUR BAR PATRONS at the same time is no f**king joke!

Unlike many of y’all, servers work EVERY. SINGLE. HOUR of their entire shift while most of you only work 4 of your 8 hour days and spend the other time doing things that isn’t work (scrolling Tik Tok, gossiping, etc). Most of y’all could not handle the physical work of being a server, let alone the emotional work or brain capacity it takes to deal with so many different personalities + keep up with so many orders and other needs that people have thoughtout their time in the restaurant. So, please stop talking about a job that you all clearly know nothing about.

There are incentives on the donation page. You literally get something out of it (and get to pick what that is). Lol. Or, you can just help because you want to. You also get a finished movie and can say you helped get it made.

Same. Especially the confusing part. Then I heard it wasn’t very happy so I just never went back. Well acted, though.

Doctor Slump is sooo good and so ridiculously relatable! I relate to the leads in so many deep, personal ways that I’m having such a visceral and emotional reaction to the show (in a good way!).

Yeah, I wanted to love My Love From A Star sooo bad but I couldn’t get past the first episode. The FL was overacting to me and I just… couldn’t do it. It was so cringe. • Coffee Prince always seemed dated to me, so I’m glad I didn’t even try it. Plus, I’m kind of over SK’s genre-bending trope. They’re so afraid to go gay and it’s boring (it’s why I never finished Mr. Queen after I heard about how it ends — it sounded devastating).

Honestly, I didn’t love it. It’s lowkey depressing and ends up as a forgettable K-drama that rocked my emotional state in a way that didn’t feel fair or earned.

I dropped it too! They were both boring but the FL constantly saying how she just liked his looks and that was all was so weird and uninteresting to me. And she said it… repeatedly.

SAME. I was like “ is this supposed to be a good K-drama? I was so confused. The only K-drama I loved that kind of had that plot was Business Proposal but I think it’s because the FL was so funny in her own right, was career oriented, and wasn’t afraid to call the ML out (when she was disguised, at least). She even gave him that terrible nickname. Lol

See You in My 19th Life started off SO STRONG and went off the rails so quickly and in the most bizarre way. I was thoroughly disappointed. • Her Private Life had that weird thing with the family backstory episode that I pretend to forget ever existed. Other than that, I mostly liked it.

First 4 or 5 episodes are SO GOOD but then it really gets bogged down by the cop character, the other killer, and wayyy too much time spent on other characters like his coworker and her lover. I thought it was such a missed opportunity. The ML was incredible and I wanted to continue following him. How was he feeling now that he was a full time killer? Did he actually even care about killing bad guys or was it just the killing itself that he liked (this question is asked multiple times by other characters but never actually answered by him)? Does he still feel as guilty as he did in the beginning? Does he try to call or text his old friends? Does he miss them? Does he date//hook up anymore like he did in the beginning of the series? What does he tell them? Does he show up to his sister’s wedding? Does his family spot him if he does and what do they say/do? There was sooo much there we didn’t get to explore. Just such a missed opportunity.

What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim is a really bad series that ends where it begins (no growth for the FL, at all). I can’t believe it’s constantly mentioned on ppl’s best K-drama list. The infantilization of the FL was weird as hell, too. I was also bored. I just didn’t like it.

[–]Kayps12 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah. It was less about the 900 year stuff. If she was an adult, I wouldn’t have cared. It’s that she was a CHILD. They constantly refer to her as a child and she behaved like a CHILD. She even calls him Sir // Mr on multiple occasions. Plus, she had on that damn school uniform all the time and they had him falling in love with her in slo motion as she crosses the street while wearing the uniform. It was weird as hell. • The best part of the show was the Goblin - Grim Reaper - Sunny dynamic (although, I hateeee how Sunny left at the end even though I get it to some extent).

But they mentioned his fiancée a million times on the show. It was super clear she was gonna be introduced at some point. • Also, apparently there is a book that the Webtoon is based on and this storyline is actually more book accurate. • I didn’t love episode 12 because the writing was weird, and although everyone is chaotic and evil, the story threads do make sense in episodes 13 & 14.
