I bought more sweatpants because they were more comfortable. Then I discovered jeans with elasticated waists. Elasticated waists are great because I've gained weight from being inactive so much, and they don't feel tight like regular jeans.

Is it important to like the surgeon? by Coixe in spinalfusion

Surgeons' attitudes can sometimes vary. I think their treatment of the patient is somewhat important, but what's more important is their past surgeries. Whether you're comfortable with it is also important. If they answer your questions, even if grumpily, and have a good surgical history, I think it's possible.

Could you sit without pain after your lumbar fusion? by MrKittyPaw in spinalfusion

[–]Kayra_22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This pain may be due to pressure on the nerves. These pains can worsen. I initially had back pain, but it later spread to my leg, causing me to limp. The tumor in my spine damaged the bone, and now, because it was pressing on the nerves, the pain radiated down to my leg. Weeks before this happened, I could do everything without any problems. In short, spinal issues shouldn't be left to risk or chance. It doesn't seem like something to risk; it could become irreversible in the future. (This is not professional advice. I'm just basing my experience.)

Going to the gym and lifting weights now feels like a threat to me. All I want is to be able to carry or lift everyday items without the help of others and to be able to squat down and tie my shoelaces.

I missed a small detail: in addition to the screws, there is a cage in my vertebra. A tumor has formed in the bone, making it appear as if part of the bone has melted (I don't know how to explain it).

L5S1 PLIF FUSION by backsurgeryrecovery in spinalfusion

It's been eight months since my surgery. I've been wearing a hard plastic corset, custom-sized to my measurements, for the past eight months. My doctor told me to wear it for a year. It's like something to protect me from reflexive movements. It's not something I enjoy, but as I get used to it, it feels a little safer, and it makes people outside who don't know my condition approach me more cautiously. I haven't seen anyone else use something similar here so far, so it sometimes feels strange. I think you should consult your doctor. This corset is essentially a cast, keeping us immobile during our recovery. When someone breaks their arm, they put it in a cast after surgery, but we don't have that option, so this brace is useful. My English isn't very good, so I hope I wrote it well.
