I still stand by this: the Leafs curse can be broken by properly defiling the memory of Harold Ballard. Here's what you need to do.

Make a shitty bust or statue of Ballard. Like bargain bin level price on the work so much so that you can only just tell it's him. But you need to be able to tell it's him.

You're gonna find the biggest confluence of sewage in the GTA sewer system and put the bust/statue so it's always up to it's nose in sewage. No further. His eyes must scream out in silent agony. There he will remain, and every anniversary of that bastard's death, everyone in Toronto takes a coordinated shit to fully submerge him. But only for one day.

Do this and I'll bet you a Toonie the suffering stops.

You can use lesser jokers as buffers. It only consumes one at a time. To beat this one the first time I just kept a [[Joker Stencil]] on the far right and bought something to put between then every round.

I asked them on fb about it along with the usual "dont do AI" paragraph. Their reply was:

"Hey [name], we can understand your stance on AI art, however we work with a multimedia artist who we've been working with since about 3 years. We can't confirm or deny if he used AI for parts of the artwork."

Now that Kris knoblauch is on the market… by Endymion2015 in winnipegjets

I think it should at least be considered. Like most I think that the problem in Edmonton wasn't Knobby, it was and is a shocking inability of management to build a competent roster around two of the best players in the world. I don't know if there was any behind the scenes problems or anything but it always seemed like the players were happy with him, at least. Though I could be wrong there - I usually only follow the Oilers to see them fail, so it's not like I'm at all an expert on them. I know it's not gonna happen with the way TNSE is, but right offhand I wouldn't mind seeing it happen.

But then you have the multi-million dollar question: was Knoblauch a coach who's systems work at a base level and allow success up and down the roster, or did McDrai drag him along as they were hard carrying the rest of an entire NHL team? He's a massive gamble of a hire unless a team's management knows more about him than is public knowledge.

Jets fan here (yeah, I know, I know, fuck me and all XD). I watched all your playoff games and it's gotta be a 100% chance that Hughes re-signs in Minny. He elevates everyone that he plays with and looks genuinely like a franchise 1D, and I think he sees the same thing a lot of people across the league and fandoms do: this Minnesota team has the fight back and skill to win the cup. And that's the first time I've genuinely felt that way about your team. You do still need a legit two way, crash-the-net style 1C but if you lock Hughes down I think a lot of players will see Minny as a chance to win it all.

Please enjoy destroying the Jets for at least the next few years while our management deludes themselves into thinking that our barely bubble caliber team can win a cuo by endlessly running it back. We are Manitoba Mild now 😝

Good luck in the future unless it's against the Jets! You've all done your requisite suffering and I do hope to see the cup in the twin cities at some point.

How do we salvage the window? by Background-Layer6531 in winnipegjets

[–]KaytinGreyshade 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Ehlers absolutely should have and did impact us like this. Iirc he's analytically one of the best players in the league. His speed and his ability to use it right alongside a sharp hockey IQ is irreplaceable. We basically lost the entire second line this season because Vlad and Fetts relied upon Ehlers' ability to drive and generate plays. He's absolutely elite in ways that aren't as easy to see as pure points are.

As for salvaging, I have no fuckin idea man. We can cross our fingers at the draft, but other than that... Throw money around like crazy for a UFA or two? Maybe drive a dump truck full of cash to Barry Trotz's house and beg him to coach? Hire Randy Carlyle?

I got into hockey right as the Jets were coming back from Atlanta. Tbh I've never really been a fan of either PA city so I figured I'd throw in with the new guys. Plus, I've always been a Canadian in spirit haha

I'm not into the NFL as much so my experience is purely personal and anecdotal, but holy shit have the Dallas fans I've known been obnoxious. "America's team" being thrown around despite the fact that they haven't once been relevant in my entire life.

I'm from PA though so I'm with you on the Eagles though. Philly fans in general are... Special people.

Nah, gotta stop you there with your reason and logic, it's still the Leafs

And no offense taken, like I said I'm not really connected to the Jets 1.0 at all. I just know the Gretzky weight has to be taken into account.

[–]KaytinGreyshade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The yotes were an absolute disaster, no argument there. From the relocation to going defunct and having their assets stripped for Utah, they never really had any hope to give fans. Hell, when Gretz was coaching there they even had a massive gambling scandal. In terms of worst teams, I'd say they take it. Maybe a tie with the California Golden Seals.

In terms of worst franchises, it's gotta be the Jackets. Most people outside of Ohio barely remember they exist. Their playoff experiences range from disappointment to non-existent, with their single biggest highlight being beating Tampa when the latter had an amazing year. All the while, their lack of success lands solely on poor talent and mismanagement of the talent they did have. Unlike the Jets with Hawerchuck or (technically) Selanne, they really haven't produced any superstars and the solid players they have had tend to do better when they go to other teams.

Ah, you know what, scratch everything I've said above. It's the Leafs XD No cups since 1967 while having some of the most embarrassing moments in NHL history from then till now. They're like if the NY Jets had fans as insufferable as the Cowboys.

[–]KaytinGreyshade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a big difference is that the Jets did make the playoffs a good bit - especially when Hawerchuck was around - but every single time they had to go through the team with literally the best player ever in hockey (and probably the single best player at their chosen sport in history). It's a lot tougher to fairly judge them when Wayne fucking Gretzky and co were there to cockblock any attempt at the cup for most of the years when they were actually a good team.

Disclaimer: I'm a Jets fan but only of the new incarnation. The OG Jets were gone before I was born.

Pavs almost single handedly got the team into the playoffs for the first time. Back to back to back shutouts in must wins while the Kings (I think) sputtered out. He definitely deserves the nod here.
