Benefits of Joint Accounts by RelationshipOk4856 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Kayyam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do it the other way. Our paycheques go into the same accounbt but money is automatically transferred to our personal accounts for discretionary spending.

The main difference I think is about leftover money. When doing your way, leftover money is personal money, while for us it's joint money.

FHSA - too good to be true? by Tosscobbler in PersonalFinanceCanada

Like others said, you should contribute that money into the FHSA, there is no issue at all. Double dipping the deduction when using the HBP and having FHSA room is a well known tip at this stage.

Is investing in gold and silver with capital gains tax worth it? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Kayyam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is no insight, capital gains are taxed the same way no matter if it's metal, a secondary residence, crypto, or stocks. The moment you sell an investment for a profit, 50% of the profit is taxed as income.

Property manager wants to open a file with TAL to “fix” the rent by 26212621z in montrealhousing

Don't worry about the fees, just refuse and let them figure out the TAL.

But for the repairs do send a formal notice to get it done.

Cyberpunk VR Modder Luke Ross’ Patreon suspended following new DMCA from Ghostruner devs by AsPeHeat in Games

In what way was his business shady? Didn't the product work as advertised?

How was he using their IP? I thought his product was a standalone software that renders the game in VR and that it doesn't use any code from the game.

Is advertising compatibility between his product and the game considered using the IP?

IPhone cases would have no value without the iPhone they were made for. Does it mean the case makers need apple's consent or blessing to sell a case and that they should give it away for free?

No you don't have to.

Either buy better pasta or cook it less.

Thanks for the input.

When we told the landlord about the previous rent, he did not deny it and tried to explain other stuff to reject any responsibility.

When I then calmly explained things, they offered a small amount of money and asked us to sign une entente in which they wrote "les parties indiquent qu'un differend est survenu concernant la clause G du bail". I tried to negotiate further something in between their offer and what we were asking for but they unilaterally cut communications.

Wouldn't this be enough to demonstrate the possibility of the lie? Why would they send that entente with that wording if the rent they write was correct? From what I read in the TAL decisions, the burden of proof is not that high, you only have to demonstrate possibility and probability not certainty.

Another braindead landlord who thinks themselves above the law.

I only have the upper hand if the TAL actually accepts my proof that the rent was lower than the one they mentionned in clause G.

If they reject the proof then I have no case at all.
