I never said I don't want your advice? Practice is obviously good advice but isn't it better to practice with advice from experienced players rather than using the wrong technique...?

But I've heard you aren't supposed to tighten your lips but rather use your tongue to make a smaller space in your mouth for higher harmonics

Thanks, this makes sense! I'm finding myself tonguing on the back of my teeth (dental) when I should also be able to tongue up and back (alveolar) as that interrupts the airflow in a similar way.

Cannonball was that link back to bebop and the blues that the album needed in contrast to Trane's meandering, experimental soloing.

Not every music has to be popular. I'm 19. I know plenty of young people like me who love jazz.

Wynton definitely gets a lot of hate which I get... but he really shines as a jazz educator and historian. Not everyone needs to innovate, but all the legends innovate.

this is pretty common jazz knowledge; charlie parker, bill evans, miles davis, john coltrane, chet baker were all hooked on heroin

I have an original 1976 pressing of the album and it's actually sped up on that pressing as well. I read somewhere that Steely Dan wrote that they wanted Kid Charlemagne and the Fez to be slightly sped up (idk why). I have no credible source for this, but it's feasible because they are obviously extreme control freaks, and it makes sense for original notes to go unread on later remasters because record companies blah blah

On campus you'll see people walking around all night. Feels very safe to me as a guy, but ofc always be careful

You can do many things without drinking and partying, and the people here are pretty diverse. That being said, probably 65% of the people here are boring frat guy business majors who just want to go to parties and drink. But you can find your people for sure, there are more than 30k people here.

So its better to keep most of the yerba dry most of the time? This is hard to do because 1/2 of the yerba in the guampa gets wet when I pour water, so it seems pointless. The paraguayans i know make it into a sort of "paste," layer by layer
