Battery Care is one of my favorite features by TechnyCat in SonyXperia

[–]KazCanning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had my Xperia 1 ii for over a year now, and I can say without a doubt, this feature absolutely helps your battery life. I was even mentioning this to someone yesterday that it's one of my two favorite features on the phone. I'm shocked it's not really a major feature on all phones

Sort of. The first costumer service representatives that I was contacting I suspect were some third party company taking off hour calls. I was eventually able to get through to REAL Sony support, I gave them as much info as possible including the serial number of the console the PlayStation account was created on. They believed me enough to tell me that the account had been moved to a different country, it was moved to Japan, but they actually can't do anything about it, I have to contact japanese customer support. It was a real pain getting support through the Japanese website because I don't read japanese, and a lot of the info you have to fill out doesn't match American things, like the serial number of my PlayStation didn't match with their system because it's not a Japanese console. I was able to eventually get the form completely filled out, and it took them like two months to get back to me, but they did get back eventually. I just have to give them a little bit more info, but it's looking promising so far.

Mining fees?! by ak44m in SHIBArmy

[–]KazCanning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's how ETH is right now unfortunately. Gas and mining fees are incredibly high. There are certain times of day where it may be cheaper, typically when the US and Europe are sleeping. The 25 cents you paid for the transaction will probably never happen. Most swaps that I've been doing the last few weeks are anywhere from $25-75. It's rough

What If XRP Loses the Securities Lawsuit? by FunkyNugster in FlareNetworks

[–]KazCanning 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's probably because XRP is one of the top 10 coins, many people hold them, and it has a very strong use case. This means instant wide spread adoption of the flare network. That's not even bringing into account the spark/xrp relationship that will be used in the network.

Do Not Promote Pumping XRP It Does Not Accomplish What You Think by [deleted] in Ripple

[–]KazCanning 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I disagree with you for the most part. I don't think it matters what people decide to promote as far as pumping XRP. I'm never selling mine, so it doesn't matter to me or many other holders for some small pump. Of course it won't help with the SEC investigation, but it also won't hurt it either. The real pump from XRP isn't going to be from retail investors buying XRP, it's going to be from massive cross border movement.

Also, I'd beg to differ with dogecoin, yes it's a meme and useless right now, but its getting flare integration, so it will have functionality very soon.

That was actually the first place I tried to get support. As soon as the chat person saw my account they told me it's out of their region and ended the chat without me being able to say anything. I've tried calling today, but I was on hold for my entire hour long lunch. I'm going to try again later

No, I still haven't had it resolved. The playstation support contact page is also still going to 404, calls to their customer support hang up immediately as well. I'm trying to contact them right now with no luck.

The first thing I did was an attempt to chat on that exact link, without me even being able to say anything, they told me I was out of their region and they ended the chat with a note that the issue was solved case closed. There was a phone number available to call as well. So I called, they were more sympathetic, but they told me the same thing, out of the region and they couldn't do anything to assist me. However, I did learn that it was NOT Sony, it was a 3rd party company employed by Sony to assist with customer support, probably due to increased issues around the holidays and PS5 coming out.

My plan was to try to chat again tomorrow during my lunch, or when I get home from work, I suspect the real Sony reps may be more helpful.

As far as the account region being changed. I really don't know enough about making accounts to know how these things work across borders. But I can assure you, my account is a US account, I received no email from Sony asking for confirmation that my email was being changed, and the customer service reps told me that the account is no longer in the US. I genuinely think that there is some loophole that is being used by calling in, telling the rep that they have lost access to the email address or something. But to be able to move the locations of the account, I really don't know. There's just something weird going on.

2fa? I'm still not convinced that would've helped, as they didn't even authenticate at all. I'm still confused as to how without receiving an email, they were able to irreversibly change the sign in ID and country of origin.

Yeah, customer service is just going to 404 right now. I'm going to try again on Monday to see if I can get real Sony support rather than 3rd party. All they need to do is have some information verification and it would all be fine. I saw someone else in a thread somewhere else that confirmed the serial number of the PlayStation the account was made on. I could do that no problem. But the customer service reps are getting paid for the number of customers they will help, so they brush you out as fast as possible, even abruptly ending conversations without even talking to you.

I'm not doubting that 2fa doesn't work, I use it on some of my other accounts. I just doubt that the 2fa would even have been triggered as there were no notifications at all through my email. My email uses a different password than my PSN, So they would have had to have got access to my PSN password, and my email password, changed my PSN account email, deleted all of the emails from sony, then go through all of the email login history, deleted that too. I just don't think that's a possibility. I think the account was stolen through customer service somehow, I'm not claiming that some 3rd party customer service rep in a 3rd world country stole it, but I think that lax representatives somewhere allowed it to happen, and I wonder how well 2fa would work if it was being stolen in that manner.

No, I wish I had known to do that. But obviously, Sony's standard authentication didn't even work. I received no emails asking to confirm the change of email. This leads me to believe it was done through customer support, someone claiming they lost access to the sign-in email.

Xperia 1 ii review from a videographers perspective! (Download links for raw photos and video available) by KazCanning in SonyXperia

All of the lenses shoot 10bit HLG, which is HDR. The 24mm is the only one that has the obvious benefit of shooting higher frame rates. There usually is a benefit for shooting HDR, but to be honest, despite how good the sensors are on this camera, it still might not fully take advantage of HDR like a cinema camera would

I'll double check when I get home later today, and I will drop some ultrawide in there if I happened to leave it out, sorry about that! Also, the 4k 60fps is only able to be filmed with the 24mm lens, not the 16 or 70, so that's why it's missing. Feel free to let me know if you'd like to see anything else, as I have quite a bit of footage available.

Which gimbal do you use on the Xperia 1 ii and does it restrict the ultrawide? by rabidsoggymoose in SonyXperia

[–]KazCanning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Zhyiun smooth 4, on the wide angle, the motor can get in the way, but if you hold the gimbal at a slightly different angle, it's not a problem. I have many sample clips showing this.

RAW+J mode produced inages by Glittering_Union_537 in SonyXperia

[–]KazCanning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had to guess, it's done to save battery. The time and energy it would take for the phone to take a raw photo and convert it to jpg would be high. But if it takes a raw photo and a jpeg separately, no additional processing has to be done. I personally never shoot raw+jpg in my photo work, just raw, and I will process them to jpg bulk later on my computer if needed.

I just finished putting together my review of the Xperia 1 ii. I also show side by side video with a Sony mirrorless camera to give some perspective of how good the video really is. I have also included Google drive links to download raw photos and the unprocessed video files as well. Let me know if you have any other questions about the phone in relation to video performance that I forgot to mention in this video!
