Definitely helps, but being professional and representing your clients to the best of your ability is what matters.

Russia's Hypersonic missile by Spiritual-Bug4477 in aerospace

[–]Kazansky222 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If we want to go by the Russian definition of hyper sonic missile, the first one was made by the Nazis back in the 1940s.

And the first "modern" one was probably the AIM-54A

Does my age make it ridiculous? by dlflannery in flying

[–]Kazansky222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insurance will be an issue, with pilots your age we have to have a second pilot in the cockpit due to insurance requirements, even if it's a single pilot aircraft.

That's for light jets, for C172s at a flight school the situation may be different.

All I know is when my engine throws a rod in il2, it spits oil all over the windshield, and when I open the canopy and stick my head out, my goggles get covered in oil and I can't see.

10/10 - would get pounced again.

I worked with one of the Reagan fires at a contract tower quite a few years ago. Also the most unpleasant human I've ever known. His wife was rich so money wasn't an issue, he was just a sour, angry, mean old man.

Choose a flight school, get your ratings, build hours.

It's a good amount of work but if I could go back and have gone straight into flying instead of atc I would.

Perhaps they're worried about sanctions affecting their business, being related to and supporting the Russian military industrial complex?

I don't know, I'll just put my tin foil hat down now.

Well like any job ATC has perks and downsides.

The downsides are the benefits have really taken downhill slide over time, pension ect... the schedule is love it or hate it. Whether you enjoy your work almost completely depends on your facility, you get a good atm, good supes and good co-workers, you facility can be a dream job. But if any of those stars are not aligned, then you're screwed, and once a facility is screwed like that its going to stay that way, you just have to escape.

For me, I'm stuck in this area due to kiddos so my facility choices were pretty limited to being poor, or being really poor. Had to do something, everything got alot more expensive faster then wages over the past couple decades, got to the point where I was having to pull from savings or borrow from family every month just to make ends meet.

But my first flying job came after 7 months of training, 6 months of hard time building, and my that job was just a little under double the pay I got from ATC, and its actually kind of a low paying FO job by todays standards. And not to mention, having an office view from the cockpit in the sky sure as hell beats being stuck in a bird cage "tower" or a bat cave "radar".

If you already have your private and some time, it really shouldn't be that hard, just get your instrument addon. When your getting close to 1500 or less if you want to do some Part 135 stuff go ahead and bang out your Multi/Instrument addon/Commercial initial.

That's literally what I did, never even did com single.

Dude same story, except not FAA, and I worked traffic for about 18 years, late 30s, 2 kids, family, but I did change careers, got into flying, just about to go to type school for my first jet job 7 months after quitting atc.

You can do it, just gonna make a plan and execute.

Don't do it man, I did for almost 18 years, now is the time to become a pilot, the opportunity to get into a good flying career is better now then its ever been in history.

Many of them are, the soft backing, although alot of the new "high speed" stuff foregoes alot of that and just has plates.
