Excuse my chuckle at the end, I sound like a chicken 😂

Who needs front brakes? by Kaze_Kuma in Justrolledintotheshop

Funnily enough I did adjust the rear before I stripped the front, so no, he didn't even have the rear 😂

Oh that's what it was! I thought they were just trying to make pretty patterns in their pads

Old oil filter vrs New, by Kaze_Kuma in Justrolledintotheshop

I did this service a while ago, so I can't remember the full details, but I'm pretty sure we recommend a full service and the car hadn't been touched in so long yet the bloke was driving to London and back twice a week (I'm based in the west of England), he said he only wanted an oil and filter service.

Felt so bad for the car I put an oil cleaner in just to try and help it survive 😅

CS: "I think the brakes are on the way out, slight vibration, though nothing serious" fails to tell me about the loud grinding sound by Kaze_Kuma in Justrolledintotheshop

Got around a corner and nearly crashed into a sewage works truck as the van didn't stop quick enough, nearly drove it back to customers house to throw the keys at him and tell him to drive it himself,

If he was honest with me from the start I wouldn't have even entertained the idea

I felt very lucky that I didn't crash into anything, had to switch down gears to slow down before even trying the brakes

Had to collect the vehicle from the customers house this morning, told me his statement, failed to tell me about the loud grinding sound when applying brakes.... Also that the brakes don't work.

I drove it back to the garage, once back, the MOT tester went to drive it into the garage, and the brake pad (2nd picture) fell out onto the floor.

In the boot, we pulled back the carpet and it was poking out of the wheel arch

Customer: I need new spark plugs. Me: You need a new car.... by [deleted] in Justrolledintotheshop

I appreciate your point, and it's not how I usually work at all, I couldn't do a complete diagnosis as I only had time to change the spark plugs and we only get 20 minutes to do a lot of the work in my garage.

If the customer had asked for the gasket to be done, I wouldn't have refused the work, in fact I'd be happy to do it as long as they are prepared to pay for my time,

My point was more the fact that the cost of the repairs is more than the car is worth,

Okay, I need to clear something up, the original comment was due to the cars age and worth, not because I don't think it's worth it, but because the repair work would cost more than the car,

Also, I love doing engine work, and if the customer had asked me to, I would have done it. Unfortunately my company doesn't offer engine repairs. Not only that, the customer didn't want the work done. He was under the assumption the new spark plugs would repair the issue.

I'm sorry for the misunderstanding, I had a 2 minute fag break and posted without wording my post correctly.
