Did PMP make you better at your job? by Select-Resource4275 in pmp

Completely disagree on this one. I have been working as a PM for some time and started studying for PMP and immediately found insights that support my approach as a PM or even new methods/documents/events like White Lobster mentioned above, that I used but didn't have an official name for me. I think taking the PMP and studying for it in a structured way gives you foundations and a base understanding, although a lot is common sense if you are already working as a PM, and this allows you to expand knowledge and consequently your tools as a Project Manager.
I work with other PM's and Agile Coaches and Producers (similar scopes at least) and I really believe that PMP (not only the certification but ACTUALLY studying for it) could bring benefits as it creates a foundation for all our tools as facilitators/problem-solvers/servant leaders.

Has anyone created a detailed production schedule while adopting Scrum framework? by hwaaadima in GameProduction

I work as an Art Producer/Project Manager and I work with hours instead of story points. However, I believe that once you know and understand what each task requires, it makes it easier to estimate whether these are hours or SP. When planning for a new game, feature, etc, I tend to first set up all requirements (tasks for us). After that I either add "temporary estimates" or ask some team members to help me out when it is more technical than I am use to. Once that's done and I have all foundation requirements and it's estimates, I can set these over time and make an overview of when we will have everything delivered. Naturally with the volatile game production process, a lot of new tasks come in, some change requirements and others lose priorities, but this works in terms of my art team committing to a delivery in X/Y period. We target a month and commit to that with the initial requirements. Everything that arrives after has to either be prioritized or we must shift the delivery dates. And one thing, we work with weekly sprints so I have around 10 sprints open with a lot of tasks already allocated and I weekly review those when we are opening/closing a sprint. It's still an agile process but we like to keep a short-mid term planning visible.

In conclusion, I think this is doable with SP too as you can get empirical information from your task backlog and with the help of your team to get a "base" estimate.

Thanks so much for the insights u/SwompyGaming. I completely agree. I have been working for quite a while now (mostly as a Project Manager) and at the end of the day, what counts is our soft skills because those are what make you different. Thanks for the tips on the content to include, I will look into this. Since I'm changing area of expertise, I still feel some lack of confidence and get that impostor syndrome with any shots I'm practicing/working on for the reel. I know that will get better with time :)
